Xcr-l major problem

Problem is its awesome! Lol just got it and love it!new keymod version I heard it was gonna be heavy but it's not to bad. Got a few scopes to try on her. Scorpion 4-24x 50 . Used a crossfire vortex 2 1-4. And got a burris 322. Does anyone know what's better ammo to use for accuracy for this gun? 5.56 or 223? At our range it's 200 yards and I want to test her out at that with precision

What twist rate is your barrel? Heavier ammo likes the faster twist.

Pick up a 7.62x39mm conversion kit too. And .300, and 260.
And an XCR-M ;)

Sometimes you can find 7.62x39 from Barnaul for cheap in 500 packs. Priced just a bit better than bulk 223/556 however it is low quality stuff. Don't be afraid to shoot corrosive just read up on how to clean it properly. If you don't have the time to do a thorough clean pretty soon after (hours) a corrosive shoot then stick to non-corrosive.

Every semi on the internet shoots 1/2 MOA or better. :jerkit:
Luv to see a 308 semi on the 1/2" challenge.
If you break the barrels in like a precision rifle, these are guns that will shoot have XCRM .308 shooting HSM 168 gr. Hibrid into
.414 at 100 yard 5 rounds and it will shoot federal and Hornsby match into .5 groups just love this rifle!

I checked my 100m zero from a bipod, after setting it at 25m. I had 1 5/8" @ 100m out of my 223 the only time I checked it for a group/zero. That was with AE JHP 50 g, I believe.

I've fired Federal,PMC,AE,and Barnaul thru my 5.56......all 55gr FMJ.
No issues with XCR digesting any of them and hitting where I aim.
Only brand I've actually measured 5 shot groups is Federal, best iirc was around 1.4"?
Average of 5x5rd groups 1.7-ish??
That said, during that same group testing,I'd say 4 outta 5 groups iirc had one flier/pulled shot, that if discounted would have produced 4x4rd sub-MOA groups.
So yea,IMHO,it's plenty capable of sub-MOA groups, and I haven't even begun to relaid for it.Always that one flier,I blame operator error, haha.

When did the new generation keymod version come out? Im seriously considering one. I can only find them backorderable from wolverine or cabelas but I might do it anyways. I handled a xcr m at the store and really liked the ergonomics.

I'm guessing but seems like it was near the first of 2014?

Just back ordered one from cabelas.

Unless of course you wanna part with yours.... ;)

Did you call Wolverine? There actual inventory can vary from online. I'd be surprised if there wasn't what you wanted in stock somewhere....... what options are you looking for?

Xcr 223 in black unfortunately saw most of their stuff was outta stock. Would take a heavy barrel too.

Yup putting a bunch of R rated firearms out for sale and getting an XCR in 223 heavy barrel !!

Found a OD green on Wolverine, I'll make it my "late birthday present"... You only turn 30 once :p

Hey Unhinged, I'd give them a call. I'd be willing to bet they could hook you up with something. All really good guys, willing to help and has been said many a time, they stand behind these rifles. Since they are the distributor, they will get stock quicker as well.

Wow I'm impressed, quality bolt gun accuracy from a Battle Rifle. You really should prove all the naysayers wrong by competing in the "2016 My Black Rifle Shoots Sub-MOA Groups All Day Long Challenge" here in the Black Rifle section.

Again wow, great shooting and without match ammo. no less.
While it would be nice to discount a flier from time to time (or in your case almost every time;)) as it sure would tighten up all our groups; a true measure of a rifles accuracy (and the shooter's) is to add up all our inconsistencies. As it's the only way to truly know if we're improving.

Perhaps try over lapping all those #5x5Rd. groups to see what you and your rifles real accuracy is? (Yes, this is a fair way to determine accuracy).

Ever thought the consistency of a having a flier on #4 out of #5 (almost every) group(s) was something more then shooter error? Like perhaps was relatable to the firearm?

Seriously it's good to hear the OP is happy with their purchase and Wolverine rock as a distributor/supplier, but it has to be said these rifles are typically a 2"-4" MOA semi.-auto. battle rifle using premium ammo.; not a 1/2" MOA capable match grade semi.-auto. rifle.. Because if that's what people expect after their +/-$3,000 purchase their in for a rude awakening.

So many times it's stated regarding XCR rifles that if it wasn't for that one flier it'd be a MOA rifle or even Sub-MOA, however that's the problem with these rifles they have difficulty maintaining REPEATABLE accuracy (which like it or not is the true accuracy of any firearm) due in large part to the barrel retention design.
I'm only trying to make aware the true accuracy potential for anyone considering a XCR, as buyer's they need to know what they're getting themselves into when spending several thousand dollars on what is a Battle Rifle designed to hit a man sized target out to 300-400 metres, not clay pigeons.

To all those who say I'm anti-RA XCR rifle I say no I'm not. What I am against is one of our CGN members spending a large chunk of their earnings on a rifle they expect to shoot MOA or better when that's just not a realistic expectation (MOA or better is just not attainable for all, but the most accurate semi.-auto. rifles) for a mass produced battle rifle.

Cheers D

Pretty reasonable assessment.

I would doubt any probability of purchasing a random XCR-l in 223 and getting better than 1 1/2"-2" 5 shot groups @100m consistently from bipod/prone with good/premium(Federal, Hornady, etc)

It isn't really any different in the out of box ARs I've owned. They were 1 1/2" guns with factory.

I suppose handloading would tighten up either type gun, however 1 1/2-2" is usuable for coyotes and that's why I had an AR and have a XCR-L.
