Okay so I just picked up an XCR-L with about 100 rounds down the pipe off the EE forum. Rifle showed up today in as described condition but missing the factory muzzle brake which was okay as it had an MLC brake on it. And also as described brake hadn't been indexed yet but came with new crush washer. So I'm about to index the brake and set the crush washer so I do a hand run first without a wrench and not ice that the brake bottoms out a full 1/8" short of the washer. My first thought was F$@K that's why it's not indexed because it doesn't fit and he forgot to send the stock brake. So I'm not sure what to do know? Can I just buy a thicker crush washer to make it fit or do I have to scrap the MLC and look for something else to take its place? Please oh please give me some good news.

You can space it or even double, triple washers. Best thing is to find a thicker single washer. There's nothing special or firearm specific about these washers. You can use steel, copper, brass, aluminum ect.
All that matters is when indexed correctly it's tight enough not to loosen itself.
25-45ft lb. basically contact plus 1/4turn with soft washers, or contact plus 1/8 turn with harder washers.
You should be able to find appropriate washers at a hardware store, auto parts and especially hydraulic hose/fitting dealers. Brass and aluminum crush/sealing washers are very common in hydraulics, in all diameters and thicknesses imaginable.

Buy a bottle of cold blue at your local gunshop and put the liquid on the bare metal then wipe it off.

I did he said it wasn't included but it was mentioned in the ad so I just assumed it was included but I emailed him and I'm pretty sure he's gonna send it to me when he gets back....he's a good nutter on here with over 180 buys/sells all %100 so I'm sure we'll work it out....I didn't buy the gun for the brake I just wanna use it lol
