that's what I was thinking, I just recall some people on here saying, there was some upgrades done on the model before the keymode. Just not sure what year and model though. The only difference between the two is the pencil barrels and the very slim front end with the keymod other than that they are the same gun so if your not concerned with weight get what ever one tickles ya

Is there any difference in quality and reliability? That's not the only change. There is also a new bolt and buffer. And the lower is different. You can't take an old lower and put a keymod upper on it.
yes it's new, it's been on the shelf almost a year. $2150 + %13 hst = $2430 all in. Still sound like a good deal?$2150, new?
Yes, the price is right.
I'm in small town NL, so finding the XCR is difficult enough , handling the keymode is next to impossible. I've handled The last yrs model , in store only and it feels ok , it has a thick barrel also , I'm more concerned that it has all the upgrades. I may even be able to get it a little cheaper still, if were only talking a couple pounds , that's not so bad , I do most of my plinking out behind my house so I don't have far to walk, maybe 4or5 hundred yards . But the upgrades are important.
same, the old version would have to be at less than half the price for me to even think about it.Personally if I was to buy an xcr it would be the keymod or nothing.
well I've just googled two stage triggers, and I've found the answers. I think I will spend the few hundred and get the key mode with heavy barrel. Then I know for sure it has all the upgrades. Plus I can use it for hunting big game when I get the 308 barrel. Thanks for all the replies.Ok then , I've been thinking long and hard on this, and I think I should go with the keymode with thick barrel . Just one more question if you guys don't mind. I kinda understand how a 2 stage trigger works but can you explain it for me? Does it maximize accuracy and does it interfere with mag dumps?
