XCR-L vs Swiss Arms Classic Green

Yeah it surprised me when I was researching the Swiss Arms that you can't buy them in the US. In some of the US based forums there's some Canadian members taunting them with pics of their SA PE 90's. They're pissed! It's awesome that we got them one upped for once.

Yes that's horrible :p. You know what's even worse though? following the PE-90 pictures with a Tavor pic. Keep in mind though the fun will be short lived, since they can post pics of their rigs with suppressors, shooting ARs off the range etc. Ultimately we still lose but it's fun to show them that it's not always one sided.

The result of this thread has been a purchase of a brand new SIG Classic Green flat top. Thanks to all who replied helping me spend some hard earned cash.

I managed to find the flat top model and I'm glad that I went with it. This rig is going to end up shooting many a coyote at 200-400 yards and I'll likely be putting a scope or acog style optic on her to help me out.

The rifle has a very basic flip up iron sight in the middle of the rail. It doubt it would be great for accuracy work, but would be ok for close encounters. The rifle came with one 5 round mag and I'm sure that this won't be sufficient. I'll probably be looking at the dominion arms mags to fill in.

I bought 2k rounds of 55gr ammo from SFRC and I'm very excited to see how she shoots.:D

Thanks again to all. Here are some pics.

You lucky bastard! Nice score on that green flat-top rifle!! I have been wanting to see pics of one of those, Thanks!:)

Nice!

I got rid of the bipod right quick. The trick to shooting these accurately is a to rest them close to the magwell or on the mag.

Does it shoot accurately using the bipod and then when you're not using the bipod the POI starts to shift? Or is it that the bipod causes your groups to expand?

Congratulations, beautiful rifle :) Happy Shooting and hope to see a range report!
One day that will be my next rife!
Did you buy this new or EE?

The barrel isn't free floated, it touches the handguard.
The bipod is attached to the handguard.
Using the bipod puts upward pressure on the barrel.
As does resting the handguard on something.

Nice rifle sir. This is my next rifle purchase after LGR is gone, I already have an XCR. BUt I have a liove for all black or green rifles. I also want an ACR but they are a little unatainable right now.

I have to say after viewing that video from Nutnfancy... now i want an XCR.. already have an AR-15 and a SA Classic green.. but like the look of that XCR.. just not sure what caliber.. perhaps 223 or maybe 308...

Does anyone know who sells the newer versions of the XCR with the new buttstock? looked around in the sponsor websites and all have the older version....

Ask Wolverine Supplies but personally I like the NEA Adapter and the MAGPUL CTR Stock and the options to add a cheek piece from .25, .5 , .75 for optics...

+2, but I'll expand on that.

Accuracy: Swiss arms rifles come with an accuracy guarantee from the factory. Ten round at 300m inside 10x10cm

Quality: The materials, machining, R&D, trials and quality control the Swiss guns have gone through makes their products second to none. Robinson Armament pails in comparison - so much so it is laughable.

Reliability: hopefully the days of Robinson Armament using it's customer base as beta users is over, but I would suspect lingering issues with their products especially now that their new .308 is out. Unlike the crap-shoot represented by RA, there is no denying Swiss Arms reputation built on years of quality products.

This one is worth repeating now that some of you have had a bit of time to shake out your kit...;)

I agree the SA is a higher end proven rifle system in many aspects but I would definitely NOT agree with "Armament pails in comparison - so much so it is laughable." There are many XCR owner's very pleased with latest generation but you have a point in the past there were issues and even Alex admits this to this on the XCR forums. It may NOT be for everyone but I am happy so far...

Yes - past, present and likely the future too!

I need to come to the defence of XCR, for a non-restriced beginner rifle they are good.
It's not fair to compare the XCR line to a true Military Specification Issued and Tested weapon system such as the Swiss Arms line.

For plinking, recreational shooting and non-defensive work the XCR is just fine.

Considering the cost of an XCR I think it's fair to compare it to other high $$$ rifles.
