XCR-M...at 500 yards :)

Hey everyone new guy here! :)

I am wondering if anyone has shot their XCR-Ms out to 500 yards? WITH a proper rest, decent or + ammo, have shooting skills ect, ect. Tried of hearing the gun sucks because it shot poorly off the hood of my moms van using MFS ammo and my paintball gun scope/bipod stories... "jerkit"

If so what kind of groups did you get? IF not ...what kind of groups do you think it can get? Having a talk with a buddy and I myself think that the XCR-M is more then "combat" accurate out to 700 yards.

I'd really like to get one...I am not a AR guy, at all and the non-restricted bit really REALLY pleases me. I do not expect it to be a sniper rifle...

Id like one if it was cheaper. I always feel like Wolverine is gouging us really bad on them. As long as its minute of zombie accurate wich I believe it is i would go for it.
 
I know this is a picky nomenclature thing, but I don't think the XCR is an AR, as AR stands for ArmaLite rifle, which refers specifically to m16/m4/ar-15 and variants. Please don't be another one of those people that thinks AR stands for assault rifle, just gives the anti-gun crowd more to lip-flap about.

Oh yeah and the only way you can own a sniper rifle is if you first become a sniper...then buy a rifle.

Spent 5 years in the armed forces...I know a lot about ARs, friends are obsessed with them, I just do not dig them.

And I know what a "snipe rifle" is... I should have said "I know an XCR-M (which I KNOW is not an AR platform, hence why I want one) is a not high quality, precision bolt action rifle commonly used for the task of long range shots by marksmen and snipers of the military world. :)

I ran mine out to 600, sandbagged with various grades of match ammo and a vortex pst 4-16. Steady 3 to 5 mph full value wind.
2 or 3 rounds on target and then usually a few massive vertical flyers.
10 round groups were very ugly, three feet or more.
In comparison my Lmt mws shoots at most 10 inch, ten round groups at the same distance, same range and shooting setup.
The xcr-m seemed to be capable of moa accuracy for three rounds, but not to a consistant point of aim. I blame the "Mickey mouse" barrel retention method.

That was a little over the top... but what is common is...

- resting off the mag
- resting off your buddies shoulder
- NC star scopes/other Chinese garbage...
- lack of any real skill...the amount of people unable to hit a 10" steel plate at a recent local gun clubs event, shooting in any position they chose, lack of irons skill was just plain painful
- not making sure your gun is tight and to proper specs
- using garbage ammo...OR not knowing that different gr. shoot very differently
- ect, ect.

10mins on youtube will teach you that the average shooter just plain sucks

oh lol by bad...guess i have a case of foot in mouth syndrome today haha. Just so used to people using "AR" to refer to anything that isnt 13 pounds and made of iron and walnut LOL!. Anyways cheers and good luck with your XCR :)

Most of that is true (especially on youtube) but there is nothing wrong with resting on the mag, its done in service rifle . I shoot out to 500yds like that with .223 and can keep em within 10" for the most part.

True...but proper technique is still needed to do so properly...and guns with a looser fitting mag or heavily curved one this is not wise

Most quality western rifles do work well for this. I wear green as well, there are quite a few of us here, past and present. Welcome to the forum;)

As the one guy stated earlier, my main concern with the rifle you're inquiring about is that its barrel is not permanently screwed into the receiver.
