XCR-M Help?

Mine came in today and all I've been able to do is drool so far. Ready to throw the scope on it and do some shooting at 100 yards with a scope, but I have questions. Wolverine says they will be shipping out the Owners manuals shortly,(They came in late/seperately) they didn't want to wait to ship the firearms. I couldn't agree more! My question: I'm new to the XCR platform, but have read enough posts to know that with the -L that there are screws to tighten, gas settings to be fiddled with, etc. Without the owner's manual I'm a little lost.

All you XCR guys out there! What do I need to do before I take it out and shoot?

Hmm, sounds like your in over your head. Ill gladly take the rifle and "store" it for you until your comfortable.

But seriously, give you tube a try, I learned how to completely strip and work on various types of firearms all from YT video's. So their is a good chance they have a video you need.

What a coincidence, my XCR-L (7.62x39) showed up yesterday. I took her to the hills this balmy morning to see what was what; it was a balmy -15 BTW. The barrel retention bolt (between the magazine well and the lower rail) had loosened up by the time I was done (approx 250 rounds) so I dribbled a little Locktite 242 on it and cinched it down after cleaning. Mine came showing signs of Locktite on the bolts securing the ejector; if your's doesn't maybe Locktite them. I don't know if it's the same for the M model but the manual suggests gas setting 4 for the first (up to) 200 rounds and then adjusting to a lower setting that ejects the brass 8-14 feet. If you feel trigger slap, your gas setting is too high. I hope this helps.

Screws to check : (starting from the bore)
1) gas block
2) barrel
3) bolt release
4) grip screw

The gas block screw may loosen Through repeated firing. From the factory, It should be good though.
Inside the rifle, Check the ejector screws are tight.
Lube it real good, set the gas block on "4"

If you take the rifle apart, make sure the forward retaining pin does not fall out...

xcr's are easy to maintain. Just make sure to leave the gas system set high for the first 400.
And..... If need be mail it to myself to set up, clean and break in. I'm jealous, congrats and enjoy!

I got mine, ran about 100 rounds through it. No problems @ all yet.

Will be taking it out tomorrow again. I'd say lookup the -l manual, read through it online, then have at er tomorrow.

I have had mine for 2 years now 7.62x39 never put locktite on mine even when some at CGN say you have to. I maintain it and keep it well oiled never had any trouble with my XCR.
