Ok.. I've read through the massive XCR post but thought I would post a question here.

I have an opportunity to purchase an older model (not the oldest though) XCR. It's the one with the newer trigger, old stock and no ambi mag release and seen about 2000 rounds of 7.62x39 and about 200 rounds of .223. I would be buying the .223 set up only.

Question is, is it worth it to buy this rifle for ~500 less than a new one??? I could always put the cash towards an Eotech or something... but want the best rifle for the money.

Thoughts????

Buy it new.

I was looking for a used one too but like you said 500$ difference is nothing. Plus you can get it in the color you want.

Bigger question, Are you a patient person? I believe all new XCR's are sold out at the moment. I would always say buy it new aswell, as I normally do if the pricing is that close. If you have to have it now I would hope that the $500 price reduction you mention is off the sticker price of $2350(wolverine) $2399(Wanstalls) making it in around or under the $2000 mark. If its $500 off the after tax price Id be waiting and buying new for sure.

When buying used go with revision G or newer. Not worth the hassle of upgrading otherwise as it's going to eventually going to cost more than new.

Unless you can get a great deal of course ;).

had this rifle for 2 years
totally love it, buy any - you wont regret. i have several 2500+ tactical rifles and it is currently my favorite.

Wait...the op said its seen .223 and 7.62.
I don't know much about this rifle but does this mean there is a conversion kit for it?

Ide love to use 7.62 for deer and .223 for range and small game.

You can convert it between .223, 7.62x39 and 6.8spc.
