I've seen a few questions around about the accuracy of an XCR, well here we go. I know it's only a 3 shot grouping at 200 yards, but it was using AE black/white box bulk ammo with about 600 rounds through it that afternoon without a good cleaning. That was shot off a bag as I didn't have the grip/bi-pod in yet. I gave it a good cleaning and will be taking it out soon with some handloads or match ammo see what it can can really do. This rifle is awesome so far, not one issue with it.

If your XCR can group like that at 200 on a regular basis you have an excellent hunting semi-auto!
Hell most guys that I use to work with who claimed to be regular Annie Oakley's couldn't shoot a group like that with their bolt rifles..

From what I've seen so far thats going to be a consistant thing with that rifle. I can't wait to get out for coyotee.

I hunt with a few guys that are pretty bad, I'd love to put dummy rounds in there mag's at the range so they can see how much there flinching.
 
I've shot one before but the bolt would never lock back when the magazine was emptied, and the other thing was that when you put a new mag in you'd really have to smack it up there quite hard otherwise when you pull the charging handle to get the first round in the chamber, the round wouldn't feed up and in. Are these things others have experienced? I want to pick one of these rifles up eventually and I was quite impressed with the shooting of it, just want to know what types of problems are common.

I have noticed with the LAR15 mags they need a good smack to get them to lock if they are loaded with 10 rounds and the bolt is closed, but it's always fed the first round. I have never had mine fail to lock open. I haven't had anything go wrong with this rifle so far. Followed the book for break in, my gas setting is on #2. Everybody that tries this thing wants one.
 
Yeah it was a LAR15 10 round mag I was using. That part doesn't really bug me as I don't mind smacking it in there each time, but I thought it was weird that the bolt won't lock back.
 
If the rifle cycles fine I would look at the bolt hold open catch. My suspicion is that it was worn or broken or the bolt catch spring had problems. Both cheap and easy fixes.

the bolt catch is a common issue due to a bad steel tempered batch.
mine broke after 100 rounds but after a new one everything fine now+800rounds.
and it was a new gen made this fall.
 
I love my XCR-M , should make a 243 barrel too,then you could have 260 and or 243 barrels :ar15:
when is the 260 going to be available ?? :nest:

Okay, I can't take it anymore..all this talk about XCR's...I am in the middle of purchasing a XCR-M .308 from another great CGN'r and I just can't wait to get it!! :D

And to the OP..nice shooting, too bad you just missed the quarter though.. ;)
