So I'm looking at the XCR (7.62x39mm) and Frontier has the skeleton stock and everyone else seems to have the later adjustable one.

Is there any real difference, durability wise? I'm not particularly interested in having a folding stock but does anyone know of any issues with either?

Info seems hard to come by, maybe my google fu is weak.

The skeleton stock may be a sign of an older model XCR. All the new XCRs are shipped with the adjustable stocks. If you search this forum you will see seem say there are reliability issues with some of the older XCR models. But I've never handled an XCR with the skeleton stock so...

The new folding FAST stocks were just released this year so to say an XCR with any other stock is an old one though right is a bit off.

My XCR-L is a couple of years old now it came with a tube stock when the new FAST stocks came out I purchased one and never looked back other than it is a pain to bench rest with this stock it have turned my XCR-L back into my favorite rifle.

I had one issue with it the folding lock spring started to get weak after a few months I called Wolverine the Canadian Importer for Robinson Arms they shipped me a new spring under warranty only took a few minutes to swap it out.

The older ACE stocka re not terrible, but they are very short.
There are three gens of XCR's that i know about.
1st gen w/ ace stock, XCR engraved in large letters on right side or mag well - horrible trigger
2nd gen w/ ace stock, way better trigger, magwell right side blank
3rd gen w/ FAST stock, everything else pretty close to the same, no?

email frontier, they will let you know which version they have.

go for the FAST stock (new adjustable one). Not only is it adjustable for LOP, it also has a cheek riser, and it can be adjusted up or down depending on which bolts you use to attach it to the receiver. It also folds to the side and locks in place, much better unit than the original skeleton stock
