Xcr v. Mr1

I haven't quite figured out the whole loctite thing yet, either. I keep hearing it and I know there is a hidden meaning there, but I don't get it yet.

I saw a picture of an XCR-L with an ACR stock today... I was momentarily tempted until I saw the picture of that broken gas rod... I'd love to actually shoot one someday, if only to tempt fate. ;)

I saw that too. There was something way wrong with that. Nasty stainless pistons don't break without something abnormal happening to them first. Just doesn't add up.

For my 223 needs the MR-1 fill the bill for me, but i am very open to get a XCR-M in 308, had the chance to try one and it is a very good shooting tool, it is on my wish list to buy when my Quebec govt settle their problems with C-19... JP.

RA's thoughts when they replied to me:
"It is more likely that the weld for the op rod foot created a stress point in the wall of the rod. Even though this type of failure is exceptionally rare, we are now in the process of fielding a one-piece unit that will eliminate the need for welding and produce a much stronger operating group."

That's what I mean. That weld should still be hard enough. Seems to me like it was a Friday at 4:55pm made piston. Lol! They screwed up on one of the hardest parts to screw up. After I looked at the photos I ran and checked mine for stress cracks. Lol! The welder should be fired.

Thanks for all the advice.. Took the plunge Friday and ordered a black XCR w/ folding stock!

Very nice, congratulations. You will love it. I have to admit I didn't love mine when I first got it but once all the kinks were worked out, damned fine rifles they are.

Bets are it's a mag related issue. Either the Pmags damaged the bolt or his mods are causing reliability issues. The Pmags have had some issues with the Scar as well. Seems the design has an issue with partially lifting the bolt release and damaging the bolt.

The general view on the Tavor is that it has AK like reliability. That being said there will always be the exception to the rule. It only concerns me when problems seem to crop up with multiple examples of the firearm. Using one case example isn't indicitave of the rifle design. If it's a continous problem with multiple users and rifles then it's a design or quality control issue.

The Pmags are a known issue with a few rifles.

for varmint shooting, the mini 14 target is apparently very accurate once dialed in.
tho not mentioned in the op choices, but worth a consideration i think.
