XCR What happened?

I just came back from screwing around with my xcr. I robbed a pos redfield 2-7
off a friend, after getting it dialed in which was a bit of a chore. No clicks, each reference line equals 1"@100y and the threads are backwards. Well it was foggy, raining and I had to walk up after each round of shooting to see what adjustments were needed. I using a
forestry gate for a rest, standing partially in the ditch with a wet rag for an inert rest. so after getting close enough as to not be completely wasting ammo I fired 4-10shot groups and only adjusting elevation between groups. All 4 groups were 2.3-3.5". That's pretty reasonable considering the horrible position and conditions. One interesting thing about the groups is that they are very uniform circles. After sighting I moved into rocks
and remnants of broken clays. While not a huge number, I do
have 4-500 rounds through it with only 2 misshaps, one was due to not fully seating the mag and the other I'm positive was the empty bounced off the wall and right back
into the action. I am quite happy with my xcr and I'm generally negative and always feel ripped off. While it is expensive when I compare it to more complicated machines like
motorcycles, used cars and sleds the fact that it's unrestricted
is priceless. I can't comment on the tavor or Swiss, but one things for sure, I wouldn't pay $200 for a top of the line range queen AR, plus the 90degree safety is stupidly uncomfortable, the charge handle position is awkward, so is the bolt release. After fooling around with a friends bushmaster it sure was nice to have the controls in the right place with he xcr.

I better add that I never shot the bushmaster, I fondled it at his house last week. Unfortunatley I hate the range and he's limited to it so I'll probably never do a real side by side shoot.

See, now you've reduced the argument to ten shots v. 5. I think that's a logical, defensible position. We can argue all day about who's gun is better.

My objection is that misanthopist thinks I'm being unreasonable for calling his request ridiculous. That request demanded TWENTY targets of 10 rounds each. I'm sorry, but that's stupid, unreasonable, and I'm not going to waste 200 rounds (and 20 targets) on a #### measuring competition with him.

I am not requesting that you do it, I am saying that IF you want to post targets which will explain something about the rifle, THEN that is what they would look like.

I don't care whether you ever shoot the rifle again...it means nothing to me at all. But if YOU are interested in determining whether the rifle is accurate, then what it would take would be to launch a lot of rounds downrange under controlled conditions.

My point is that the target you DID post didn't contain any information, and so I wrote up an explanation of how you could do an actual test that would be an interesting evaluation of the accuracy of an XCR. A couple of hundred rounds could demonstrate the repeatable accuracy of the system.

YOU are the person obsessed with measuring dicks here, not me.

So when will we have the great CGN shoot off...between

The XCR and the Mini 14 :)

Post the 10 round groups when you get a chance.

Oh you are an evil man. LOL. I bought a used one because I wanted something minute of Coyote that I could legally drive around with in the country while looking for targets of opportunity.:D Being black, having rails and using 10 round AR mags are all a plus for me. From the little I've used it so far, I'm happy. If I want to shoot small groups I have a Cooper sitting here that does the job quite nicely. Once I get a scope mounted for this thing I will do some load development and post some groups. I have some 50 and 55gr V-Max and some 60gr Noslers I can use. I'll be using Benchmark and H335 for powder. If I can get a consistent 1.5 MOA with 10 shot groups (I'm not too impressed with the trigger) I will be more than happy. 2-2.5MOA would be OK with me for 10 rounds. The way things are looking for me right now I might not get into some honest load development/tuning till Spring. I could probably load up some at max (which I never seem to use when looking for accuracy) and try some groups (once I get a scope) just for reference. It's definitely not a perfect rifle, but none of the other rifles in various calibers I own are perfect either. Different tools for different jobs I guess.;)

This is a follow up to my previous post on this thread regarding me sending my barrel and bolt to Robinson Armament and them originally telling me that they thought that it was a problem with the port size on the barrel.

Here is a quote from the latest email to me regarding the issue.

"BTW, it was the bolt that turned out to be the problem. The head space gages didn't pick up the problem. The bolt face was actually small with tapered sides. The end result was that it acted like too little head space forcing the brass in too tightly."
