XCRs in 6.8

Would you like to see a bunch of 6.8s hit the Canadian market?

I would take one in 6.8 SPC.

Ammo available locally, if not, anyone who stock Remington ammo will order it for you, and I reload as well.

A cartridge with 80% the power of 308, with only 20% more recoil than 223, in a 223 size package. What is not to like??

Not that I have done any research or anything ;)

I've just phoned Wolverine and they've updated my XCR order to a 6.8 spc.
Now to start collecting ammo, I have a year to do it.
I think if you want a 308 you're going to be waiting a few years because as ACRmonger said it's a whole nother rifle.
I'll be shooting my 6.8 in a year.

Anything 6.5, 6.8, .300 Whisper... As long as it's bigger than .23 calibre, it's GTG for deer.

Deer hunting with a fully dressed up and kitted out Black Rifle would be an awesome way to irritate some Fudds!

I'd prefer 308 over 6.8, but if the state department doesnt allow 308, I'll take 6.8 any day.

BTW Terra, it's nice to see you on CGN and not just ARFcom!

On Wolverine's waiting list already...Hurry up!:p;) 6.8 SPC conversion works for me. Just turns my plinker/ varmint rig into a great deer carbine. Both the kit and the rifle won't last long on the shelf up here anyhow. How about an arsenal rebuild kit as well a stock adapter on this side of the line while your at it. Any new pics?:adult::D

The 308 is great, but it has a lot more recoil and only about 20% more knockdown power than a 6.8.
For long range the 6.5 Grendel would be the ticket, but we can't get them yet, and a bird in the hand is better than two birds in the bush.
One nice thing, there are many about these rifles is they take an AR mag.

Here's a guy shooting jugs of water with a 223 and a 6.8.

6.8 just isn't available in terms of stores that stock the ammo or components. That kills the resale market, wich also hurts the initial sale market.

I know .308 sounds wonderful as it is in keeping with the military look and feel of a "black rifle" but canadians are a strange bunch in that ammo availability, and general hunting preference (as long as the XCR is unrestricted) is 30-06. .308 is in short supply and is expensive. 30-06 is everywhere and "cheap". Canadians buy more 30-06 than any other rifle caliber and EVERYONE stocks it.

Personally I would prefer having one in 30-06. Flame-on!
