I would like to know if i purchased an XD 40 would it be possible just to purchase a .357 sig barrel to swap out when i wanted to shoot .357 sig? I know this is an option with the sig p226 just wanted to know if it works the same with the SA XD? Yes I did a search and found nothing.

sometimes the .40 magazine and the .357 magazine are the same but they have different followers.
So you might need .357 magazines also, or at least change the followers.

Yes, it is. Bar Sto is one manf of barrels. EFK is the other I think. Look for XD forums for suppliers.

40 mag will work with the 357 ammo. I have stuffed 9mm ammo into a 40 mag and it held. didn't run in a HG as I don't have a 9mm barrel.

9mm feed out of the 40 mag fine, but it will allow an extra round or two (forget which) making it illeagal (OH NO! the worlds gonna end, he's got 11 rounds in that gun!!) What it won't do is lock the slide back, the follower dosen't rise enough to engage. Had on, tried it:)

Actually, 11 rounds or more of 9x19 ammunition in a .40S&W stamped magazine wouldn't be illegal, because it is designed to hold 10 rounds of .40S&W :) (But do not change the followers or bend the feed lips, 'cause then it looks like you are modifying something for another purpose).

For instance, if you have a semi-auto shotgun with a 3" chamber and you can squeeze in six 2 3/4" shells in the tube, is that illegal? Nope :D

I agree, but want to fight it out paying lawyers by the hour if some cop sees you with 11 rounds in your mag no matter what it is? They aren't stamped with any caliber the only difference is the depth of the crease they run up the sides of the body to restrict width. I bet you'd win and I bet it would cost you dear! (shoot all lawyers!!)

I've dealt with Scott at Pistol Gear.com on several occations. He told
me in the fall he would not sell to Canada anymore. This is due to the
misguided folks at the border sending back stuff, including holsters etc.
He know's the laws, but is stonewalled by customs.

I'd encourage you to send them an email though, and let them know
you're interested in buying from them when they decide to.
