Just ordered a XD 45 ACP.I have plenty of experience with the 9mm & 40 S&W models but would like some feedback regarding the .45 ACP model.
If you have personel experience with the .45 acp version your feedback would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Peter

Pete, aren't you doing this backwards? You should ask for opinions BEFORE you buy, not after. :p Or are you suffering from some post purchase anxiety and looking for some warm fuzzies when other guys tell you their XD45's are great guns?

You hit the nail on the head.;)

Liking mine, gotta see how she runs on good ammo, the only thing I had around last week when she arrived was some crap 200 grn swc that I loaded too short, and she gagged on the first one from the mag every time, then ran fine. Less felt recoil then a 1911 and very accurate. More details wed. morning after tuesday practice night.

Fired popurhedoff's XD 40 on a match this summer, liked it so much I bought one the next day, I have not fired the 45 yet but if it's half as good, you wont be disapointed.

I handled a brand new XD45 today at the shop. It felt lovely, it did not feel any bigger than my XD40 but it felt a little heavier.

The finish is a lot better than the old Burnial finish of the earlier models. The fit was excellent with no machining marks. The main recoil spring feels stiffer than the .40S&W. The magazines are beautiful Stainless steel of nickel plated and eject like they are turbo-charged... they even spit out fast at a 30 degree angle.

I cannot wait to get mine to the range. This one is spoken for (Tim), he is currently away... mine is the next one to come in.

Good to hear, it pains me to see someone having to pull the odd mag out or flip it out.

I own a 45ACP XD. I've tried a few different types of ammo thru it, including my reloads, and it ate everything up with no problems. (RN, TC, SWC).I've only put about 500 rds thru it though, so its not even broken in yet. I have smaller hands, and I really find this double stack 45 to have one of the slimmest grips out on the market. Thats what initially drew me to it. And with the lower pressure loads that a 45 has (compared to a 9mm or .40) I know that the polymer frame will last longer too. So far, the XD 45 seems like a great double stack gun, and I'd reccomend it.

OK, fed mine a pile of LRN 230 and 200 SWC tonight, mixed em up in the mags, not a hicup. Very smooth shooter and quite accurate. She's gonna get lots of play time.....buy one, you'll like it and they're a deal with the holster and mag pouches.

I really like my XD45, bought a stainless steel 2.2 oz guide rod and the barrel is out getting polished by a gunsmith. Will post a pic when i get it back in Jan. it's going to look really cool. Bummer I can't shoot it till the barrel comes back.
The only ammo I've run is 230gr FMJ reloads and some factory. No problems yet but i do find it shoots left for me? Should shoot it from a sandbag just to make sure it's not my old eyes. Would like to add adjustable rear sights and a fiber optic front, or trijicons can't decide.
Nice gun to shoot, reliable, easy to take down and clean, recoil feels nice and controlable. The recoil actually feels softer than a 1911 with the same ammo. Xray
