Well my XD-45 arrived today and I am dying to get it out on the range. The fit and finish seem quite good (especially for the price). I like the way it feels in my hands, it points almost as well as my 1911. I will be adding some grip tape or modifying a Hogue slip on grip for it though. I find the plastic just a little too slippery, although not as bad as my Ruger 22/45. Now if only the case of ammo I ordered from Wolverine will get here before the weekend, I will be set.:D

Once again P&D has been a pleasure to do business with.

One question though, it has been a couple of years since I purchased a restricted firearm.

Is it legal to go to the range with my ATT and the Transfer Notification (which has the Registration Certificate # on it) or do I need to wait for the actual Registration Certificate to arrive in the mail?

Here are a few pics.

Cheers!

They can be shipped canada post. I've mail ordered a few handguns, the mail guy comes and knocks on your door, or leaves a one of those parcel pick up door hanger things, and you just go pick it up. No ATT required.

"I'm here to pick up my handgun!" lol

ATT required if you personally pick it up from the store.

Mike K,
I was fairly certain the Transfer Notification would be good enough along with my long term ATT, but wanted to ask the question to be sure. Thanks for the reply.

Whitbyman,
I didn't have my ATT with me when I picked it up from the post office. In fact I wasn't expecting it to arrive so soon. Made my day though!:D

Cheers!

Personally I like the grips the way they are, they work well for me. Nice piece, can't wait to work a few weekends so I can order one to sit beside my 9mm XD.:)

I'd give the XD's "nekkid" grips a try first, before installing a rubber slipon grip. They really are quite good, and not slippery at all. Unless you've got really big hands, a Hogue slipon grip will make your XD45ACP's grip quite a bit larger.

Nice looking pistol. Is it a double stack mag,and if so how much wider is it,compared to the 40 s&w.

It's a double stack mag, in the land of the free it hold 13 rnds and one up the spout! And the difference in the hand between it and the 9/40 frame is very small, all but unnoticeable unless you hold them back to back. I can't wait to get one!

Well I pulled the Hogue Handall slip on grip off of my 22/45 and tried it out on the XD45. They definitely make the grip larger but not too large(at least not for me). At this point I like the feel of it and will be ordering a slip on grip for the XD and trimming it for the grip safety. If after awhile I find it is too big, I have some self adhesive MOB grip tape used on skateboards. I can cut out the panels and apply it to the XD. I have seen pictures of other XD's done this way and they look pretty good.

Here are a few pics of the XD-45 with the Hogue slip on grip. This grip will be going back on my 22/45 so I haven't trimmed around the grip safety.

Cheers!

My new Hogue slip on grips came in today. Can't wait to get out to the range and see how they feel when shooting. Here are a few pics with the grips on and trimmed for the grip safety.

Cheers!

Well I hate to spike your blood pressure.:D An easy cure is to whip out that visa card and give P&D or TSE a call.:p

Cheers!

So, can we get a range report? :)

Unfortunately as soon as the XD arrived I have been spending most of my time out of town and unable to get to the range.:( Hopefully this weekend or early next week I will be able to try her out.
