I recently bought an XDM 9mm, my very first polymer pistol. I have to say it's pretty sweet! I've never liked polymer guns before but I came to the point of wanting to try something brand new, not just another 1911. I still like, I mean love 1911s but I think love the XD too. I could never fall in love with the Glock. It always felt ugly in my hand but the XD, well, this one feels just right. Are any of you guys tricking and tweaking your XD or do you just shoot it?
I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

I run my XDM with no upgrades, best polymer hands down. It feels nice, looks nice and shoots great. I'm on my second thousand and been feeding it all kind of good and no so good ammo. No single misfeed, no single misfire, no single hiccup. I see where I can improve my shooting and feel that there's no need to improve the gun. Oh, wait, I had to file down a bit followers to make mags 10.5, otherwise it's 10 and hard to insert. God bless those ppl who saved zillion of lives by limiting my magazines. That was my only mod. It's slightly more expensive than (other popular polymer), but you can see and feel the quality difference - in materials, finish, tolerances. Croatia rules.

Sure is a shame to see a rivet in the back of a perfectly good magazine!
Haven't had any failures with mine either. It runs like a top and the accuracy is superb. I've looked online to see see what kind of mods people are doing but I really haven't found much. It feels awesome the way it is. I just want to shoot, shoot, and shoot.

I love my xdm 4.5 9mm. I am looking to downsize and it's hard for me to let my xdm go. I had the xd mod 2 and did not like that. Sold that very quickly. Some of the things I hate about the xdm though is the added complexity...such as added pins, grip safety, the extractor can be a pita, etc. The sights are a HUGE PITA to remove. I still can't get it off. I have a Dawson precision fibre optic set if anyone is interested. I still have not installed it so it is brand new. I am moving towards trijicon instead.

For mods, I use magazine blocks for my mags. No more worries about those stupid rivets. Firing pin replaced, extractor replaced, trigger replaced (with custom overtravel), guide rod replaced. Best website I use for parts is xdgunparts dot com. The mods are mostly for show except the trigger which is simply far better than stock.

Not sure why mags and barrels would be forbidden. I've think I ordered mags a while back from Brownells. And a barrel?? It's not a serialized part. Weird
That's okay. I like the thought of available parts but I'm not planning on buying any, unless something breaks.

Typical xdm mags are 19 rounders and xdmgunparts will not pin them. Also there are barrels shorter than 106mm, the store does not want to go through all the hassle of sifting through our gun control laws.

It seems we XD users are a rare breed.

Not at all. I have the tactical models in .40 & .45 and the wife has a tactical XD in 9mm. My XD-40 is my go to gun. Used it on many courses / competition et al and coming up on 100K rounds since late 2005: still going strong and still reliable as ever.

Would love a compact s that it could shre my XD mags as opposed to the newer single stacks or xd-m mags.

Good to hear it's still going strong after that many rounds! Do you have any pictures to share?

Where did you pick up your Xdm from?

the xdm 4.5 9mm is on my list. I should have bought it before my glock .. :/
I've had a bunch of polymer guns including the XDm and have to say it was nothing special at all. Sold it pretty quick, the grip is super long and too small at the top and you cant make it bigger because interchangeable backstraps are on the lower part of the grip. Gen4 Glock is a better gun.
