Has anyone else run the xd tactical loads over the chronograph?
I remember a friend of mine from south of the border saying that XD tend to have a fast bbl.I also know that Glock poly rifling tends to push bullets out of the bbl faster for thier bbl length.
So the other day a couple of buddies and I ran some loads over the chrono.
Guns were all 40 S&W.
Glock 4"bbl
Sig 4.5"bbl
Beretta 5"bbl
XD 40 5 "bbl
We used the same load for each gun They were 155gr XTP HP.
the ammo was loaded the day before with the same batch of powder
bullets and primers.
10 rds per gun
stopped dissasembled and reassembled Chrono and put in new Batt
and repeated 10rd test per gun.
Our Ave velocity is:
Glock 1189 fps
Sig 1196 fps
Beretta 1224 fps
XD 40 1354 fps
There was no significant diff in ave velocity between 1st round of 10 shots
and the 2nd round of 10 shots.
That is a big difference from the Beretta and the XD for the same bbl length.
The XD is approaching 10mm Velocity. No signs of high pressure on any of the
guns.
