Anyone here seen the new springfield XD-M in Canada yet? Anyone handled/fired one?
Did some searching the threads but couldn't find any relivant info.

I handled one the other day in the US. It reminds me of a cross between a regular XD grip and a S&W M&P. When I dry fired the trigger, it seemed just like the regular XD trigger to me. Overall I did not notice a big difference other than the cosmetics as it "looks" different than the older XD.

I think gun companies revamp guns from time to time just to sell more product. I always thought the original XD grip was fine.

Springfield is sure pushing it in the gun rags. Looks like a nice balance compared to the xd 5" tactical. Match barrel and interchangable backstrap are nice features. If the price is right and if it were to come out in 45acp. I might be sold on it.

Just after i purchased my XD9 the XDM came out. Needless to say i was not happy. Anyway i have had no end of problems with my XD9. When i first got it shot a foot to the left and low. I sent an email to Springfield never to get a reply (good customer service huh). I finally just took a brand new gun to a gun smith to get the sights readjusted and he also said that he needed to recrown the barrel. Ok .. so it shoots ok now.. but why did not they put match barrels in this model? It does need one. Mine still shoots low to the left with winchester 115 gr FMJ commercial ammo. so i have ordered a match barrels which will come in about 6 more weeks. Anyway.. i just had to post to say that i would never buy anything from Springfield again and i should sell my XD9 but i have put too much money into it now.. so ill keep it..

FWIW changing bullet weight chages POI. No gun with fixed sights is going to be dead on when using bullets of several weights. If you shoot low with 115grs, my recommendation would be to use a heavier bullet (124gr or more likely 147gr). However they make different heights of front and rear sights for a reason. The crown might affect accuracy (although you made no reference to that as a problem) but it does not affect POI.

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the info... I have started reloading and have found out a few things. Yes you are correct 147 gr does shoot much better in this gun. I did find out that bullets with a shorter OAL do not do well in this gun. I found that out by measuring 500 rounds of 115 gr or commercial Winchester 9mm rounds. They varied from 1.156 to 1.166 inches. The gun does not like the shorter ones and shoots larger groups (7.5 in groups bench rest) with shorter bullets. With the longest bullets it shoots 2.5 inch group bench rest at 10 m. I have found that with reloading 124 gr and 147 gr JHP that i get an acceptable group at 10 m (about 2.5 inches). With regard to the crown problem... The gunsmith that moved the sights for me said that he was not happy with how it shot after moving the sights so he put the barrel on the lathe and was able to see that there was a problem... which he fixed. I did not know there are various sight heights... Thanks ... i will look into it if i still have problems. I am a newbie with regard to shooting handguns but willing to learn from anyone willing to help.. Thanks again

I see that Springfield Armoury just announced the XDM is now available in 9mm. That is what I have been waiting for!!! Hopefully someone will begin stocking them soon. I will be first in line with my money in hand!!

Didn't shoot but handled an XDm and didn't like it that much. I was considering getting one in .40. There was a write up on the gun in Sept. issue of Shooting; the gun is 'posta be better than XD...
If I ever had to get a 'plastic' gun, I'd most likely get a Glock.

So, are these available in Canada? I just bought one in 9mm. Have an XD9 5" also. The middle back strap gives it a grip similar to the XD in size, while the others make it larger or smaller. It has a steeper grip angle though, which I find makes it more pointable in my hand. Especially with the large back strap.

The barrel is 4.5", so it shouldn't be prohib.
