Hey thar.
so, you folks know, I like milsurps, I like 1911s, I like hardy, tough military rifles and handguns..
I dislike glocks, I know people like them, and that makes me happy, but I just don't
unbalanced, top heavy, too light, too snappy, build quality seems like ####, they don't point well for me, the trigger sucks blah blah blah.

However, I'm not biased against all poly guns, I like the five seven, and I've shot a few XDs, (all cals) but wasn't really "grading them" when I did.

I was in Epps this weekend, picked up a scope and rings for my DMR project,

While in the gun room, I asked to check out an XD9, they didnt have one, but the 40 is the same shape so, meh

took it out.. and to be honest, I almost bought it right there.
The gun points well, looks awesome I think, comes with the holster, 2 mags and mag holders,
but folks.. the trigger pull is so, freaking, nice..
I don't know if it's like it on all of them or if the one I tried out was special or something..but the trigger pull is like.. a slightly SLIGHTLY resistant, but Clean and sharp single action.
so, SO nice.

I don't know..
I need a dedicated 9mm since my HP is a bit of a.. work in progress hahaha
I think my next buy might be a nice XD9.. maybe even a NEW one!

The XD9 works for me, Glocks don't. Its a personal fit thing, but I find XD's closer to the 1911 frame then anything else. If it fits you then buy it. You wont be disappointed.

Same for me, I can shoot glocks, but always find them uncomfortable and blocky. I've had an XD in 9 and 45, shoot it in 40. The 40 is the only one I wouldn't buy, the platform shines in the other two calibers. Its fine in 40 as well I guess but just much snappier.....I've got a goodly number (5000+)of rounds through it, no breaks, no jams. I'd try a M&P before you buy though, you can get them even cheaper and they feel better yet. It's still easier to find holsters for the XD's though...probably not for long.

Out of curiostiy, what are you doing with your HP?

not a Glock fan myself, but I love M&P...have you tried one?

If we could have 4in XD maybe I'll like them more but 'Tactical' model never appealed to me...

thanks for the suggestion
I tried an M&P .. i get why people like it, but I don't. similar reasons to the glock

My HP?
well, I need to replace the hammer , that's about it. I just don't want to take it to a gunsmith and because of that, its just sort of sitting around.

When I did use it, I loved it, and it was very accurate, but it does need a new hammer (messed with by a previous owner)
Not sure what I'm doing with it.

If they had a full dustcover they would look much better, IMO. I see questar may be getting XD barrels.... maybe a 106MM service model? :D

Thats exactly what I am holding out for. The 4" service frame model with a longer barrel will look sweet. http://www.gunbarrelstore.com/Items-1857-1-barrels_xd.aspx - just found that page via google and there are so many legal barrels that we can get.... ooooo the ideas are flowing.

Just curious. I've got a new Mk 3 practical, but it sure isn't the most accurate auto I've ever owned:(, everything (including the tt33!) will shoot rings around it....

I'm surprised.
the HP I have is an ex Argentinian police FM HP..
by no means fresh and new, but it was quite accurate when I used it.
I'm surprised a modern, high quality Mk 3 isnt accurate.

have you tried different ammo, and benching it?

take care,

Hey folks.
just whipped up a quick photoshop of what the XD4" with that 5" barrel would look like.

pretty neat.

enjoy!

According to an email that I received from Springfield Armory, most parts are now available for purchase. They told me to get in touch with R. Nicholls for parts as they are their Canadian distributor. I have yet to confirm this, but thought I would share the good news with my fellow Canadian XD owners.

The HP is one of the more accurate handguns out there; however, the stock trigger leaves much to be desired. The issue can be resolved by removing the mag safety.

tried 2 different plated bullet wieghts in reloads (147 and 115), cast 124's, and factory 115 from winchester and UMC, just doesent seem to like much of anything...mind you, it really hated the 147's looked more like a shotgun pattern board. Benching it makes little difference....not sure where to go with it....

Myself I am not XD fun, I keep it for my wife. There is one good thing about this gun it never jams.
My expensive 1911s from time to time jam, but not XD9.
Accuracy is acceptable and takes time to learn how to shoot it, I hate the ergonomics of the gun, but it is me only not the gun :)

If I could improve one thing on that gun would be a trigger.
