Xero - will it work for me?

The xero recommends 5 inches forward or to the side I believe, a magnetospeed v3with an offset mount (like the one from MK machining) will be a better idea.

Get a flat bar of alum or steel, or piece of strapping. That you csn clamp to the window. That you can attach the chrony on. What I do with my Chrony. i do that because the firing point is higher than the range floor and even my video camera tripod too short.

I've run mine below my barrel , between my bipod legs. what's max range there?
It's a single lane, 100 metre range.

I don't think I would have a problem positioning it. I'm more concerned about what it expects to "see". The first 25' are completely enclosed for noise abatement. It's the gas, smoke, shock waves that have me more concerned.

Nope, that's just ONE position suggested by the manufacturer, who isn't purposely constrained by a very limited range.

Our range is wide open and we rely on overhead baffles to stop flyers from "accidental discharges" into the sky or hill.

We don't have heaters in the winter, and it can be a challenge to stay warm enough to go through load developments when the wind is coming down the mountain and straight into the shooting shack.

I have a cardboard wind break made up with a very similar shooting window cut into it, as is shown in the OP's pic.

I set my Xero onto a couple of 2x6 wood blocks to give it a bit of a view along the barrel and it hasn't missed a shot.

I’m guessing it will work. The 5-15” is pretty wide open. Mine has never missed any of thousands of shots. It is the simplest chronograph I’ve ever used. I had a magnetospeed previously; it worked but was finicky.

I can't offer proper insight for the Xero here, but I had to post just to agree with you, that range does suck. Is this a "being in a big city" type thing??
Nope, Quebec no sky rule. Most ranges have baffles and other stuff. So when you are at the firing point, you literally cannot see the sky.

"suppose" to stop people from shooting over the baffles.

We had to put big dumb tubes in on our rifle range. City slowly creeping up around us, CFO wanted something to eliminate the possibility of rounds leaving the range. My Xero works fine through the tubes; I assume it will work for you too.
