XM16E1 Clone Finally Complete! :D

It's fun building the classics. They are soooo light compared to today's AR's!

Aye, it feels like a toy it's so light. It's also perfectly balanced. The center of balance is just behind the handguard slip ring. I can hold the thing on target standing all day long.

That is a great retro gun OP. My holy grail is a trigger charging handle prototype rifle made with parts from NODAK SPUD. If Nodak ever gets out from their massive pile of backorders I will buy one and shoot it till the barrel falls off.

Aye, I'm waiting on Nodak as well. I would love to get an original XM style partial fence lower engraved with retro Colt roll marks :D He has them for like $150......damn this country some days!

You would need to get one of the wonky original triangular charging handles to go with that prototype under-carry handle charger!

Where did everyone get the retro triangular handguards? I love them and have thought about doing the same project at some point.

Nice toy, I want to get my hands on a 20 inch upper. But appears people are into shorties more now. I'd also love to build one like yours, but for now I don't see myself spending the cash on something canada wont let me shoot out in the country, which I prefer over useless dark indoor shooting ranges.

I got a bayonet for my SP1 from here. They sell A1 furniture.

I just looked and couldn't find anything on the website either. Sorry.

You could try calling. I know they used to sell the handguards and A1 grips.

I have a similar AR to yours just no forward assist, I must say that is one dam fine lookin rig , I am just looking for the 3 prong flash hider, I tried to a repro one from brownells. but they said no they could not ship it here, anyone know a good place I could find one in Canada?

They are sparse up here.
AR15.com has some good guys on the EE section that will usually sell anything not restricted by cross border trade policies (no bolts, receivers, barrels, etc) very small metal parts like that are common down there.
That's all I have to say about that :D
