So the wife wants her OWN shotgun :D . I am getting her one for chritmas, but not sure which. She likes the 870 remington "tactical", but it only has the short barrel. Would it do for shooting trap and skeet or should I go for the 26" barrel? Thats the one I have and she has no problem handling the recoil of the 2 3/4" shells.

Her other choice is a year membership at "the shooting edge":dancingbanana:. What a woman!

Presumably, she only like the Tactical model because of the pistol grip stock and that green coat. You can always go with just about any 870 model and buy new barrels for the intended purpose afterwards.

Albeit going to some of the snobby skeet clubs with a OD green actioned, pistol grip 870 and a long barrel would likely get them all hot and bothered.........

SUCCESS!!

Well of course she likes the tactical for the LOOKS. She is still a silly GIRL! (kidding kidding). She handles mine very well and I would like things to be interchangable. I was thinking of picking up a longer barrel for it later on. Of course we would show up to a snotty club with it and she'd be in her little camo outfit! Pics after xmas

Does she have a Sister? :D

It's nice to know more women these days like your wife are actually into this sport/hobby.

Now my only question is where are they all hiding? :)

I gave my wife a 20 ga. 1100 for trap and skeet. She loves it. I love it. It is a sweet little shooter, you could shoot it all day long. And it hits very well.

Sounds like she's a pearl among women.

And what is it with the womenfolk and 870's? When I picked up my Marine Magnum, it was an impulse buy, and I was a little nervous about my wife's reaction.

The first thing she said when I showed it to her? "Oh my god, it's beautiful!" :).

Oh crap, looking at the new FABARM tactical and now she wants that instead! Haven't bought the 870 yet (and she still doesn't know exactly what I'm getting her). Sooo, which would you guys get? Is the FAB a smoother gun to handle then the 870? They both seem easily modified (which will be happening). The FAB sounds lighter which might be better for her.

Which would you guys (girls) shell out for?

Fabby is lighter, thus will kick harder. Plus alot more expensive than the 870. I have both and somewhat prefer the 870. Steel vs. Aluminum... whatever you/she likes i guess. There is a thread here about the Hatson stainless tactical for a coffee less than $400. Check it out.
