I recently acquired a XS sight set for a Marlin 1895 and looking for answers to a couple of questions from people who have used and installed them. The front blade is installed and I’m using it with a Williams peep that was fit to the receiver. Instructions for the XS Peep call for it to use thread lock on the bottom of the sight block and tap the rear post into the rear screw position. My questions are do you bother with the tread lock and when tapping in the rear post does it bugger the threads if you decide to remove it? Sounds like a pretty permanent attachment if you follow the instructions. Thanks

It doesn't do anything to the threads,I've used xs sights on quite a few guide guns.be sure to clean the loc rite out of the threads if you plan on using a scope or putting filler plugs in the holes.never had a issue ,The loctite cleans up easy.

Use the "medium" Loctite (I think it's the blue stuff in a red container, but read the package to be sure.) It's meant for use where you might want to take the thing apart eventually.

Attached and ready for some range time. Trial runs with light cast loads first so passed on the loctite for now. If it’s going to be a permanent fit I’m aware of the merits of the blue vs red. Was mostly concerned with tapping the rear pin into the rear screw hole but thanks for the advice.

I like to use a little paraffin wax on the stud that drops down into the threaded screw hole ,never had any damage occur on several rifles with this set up and a little wax to protect the threads .good luck and enjoy!
