Hello all. just recently bought a Marlin XT-22. So far I have been shooting it with the iron sights.
Last week i bought a scope from the EE and some rings. I mounted everything up and there is literally a hairs width between the adjustor ring and bolt handle when cycling the bolt. It i apply a slight downward pressure when moving the bolt back and forth it will clear, however, if a slight upward pressure is applied, the bolt handle hits the adjustor ring. I really do not want to go out and re-purchase things.
I am thinking about taking a file to the part of the bolt handle that is touching the adjustor ring, then re bluing or painting.
Have any of you had to do this to an XT-22 or any other rimfire you have had? Do you think that taking a couple thou of an inch will greatly affect the bolt handle strength?
