XTP'S for a 45 70

I seem to have an abundance of 300 gr 45cal Hornady XTP'S. I was wondering if anyone has put together a hunting load in their 4570 and what your results were. Also , can they be loaded up to levels usable in a Ruger #1 or is that too fast for these bullets.

If they are the same as the ones I have, they measure 0.452", whereas you want at least 0.457" for a .45-70, unless you paper-patch them.

Horse trade them or sell to someone for .458 bullets I would think.

It states right on the end of the box .452

Pistol bullets so no. Too small so no again. I’d find appropriate bullets.

Thanks for that info. I had them for my muzzle loader and over bought over the years. Look for an add on the EE lol....
