Has anyone ever seen or heard anything about Xtreme 1911's made in Winnipeg over at xtreme gun shooting center? I stumbled upon them today. Very interesting custom canadian made guns for under 1k. I think i may have to pay them a visit soon.

I didn't know that he was either building or branding pistols.

Personally I don't like their customer service.

Huh, still haven't managed to make it out that way. Interesting if the build quality is good, a 1911 is definitely on the wish list.

Well, you know...not that I have ANY knowledge of these guns (I don't know anything about them at all and am 100% speculating based on nothing but appearance and price) the thing with 1911s is this: more features for less money is NOT the way you want to go.

Any time you see more features for less money, you know what you are looking at?

Less TIME.

1911s (particularly those built to any standard other than the various military specs that have been issued over the years) perform their best when fitting is the primary concern. Cheap parts with varying tolerances, thrown together quickly, is a recipe for disaster.

Ideally, the way to go is to pick fewer features for a given dollar amount, and go with a really proven manufacturer that has either A) the specs, or B) a proven in-house process that allows them to achieve their goals.

That is why I generally recommend Colt 1911s ahead of any other factory gun, followed by Springfield. These people screw up from time to time but they have proven methods and their time goes towards performing a set series of tasks designed to achieve a specific set of requirements that produce working pistols.

So while I have no knowledge of these guns...more features for less money is not something I would take as a plus, personally.

The guns are from a major manufacturer in Phillipines, I have seen photos from the owners factory tour. I have not shot or handled any of the final guns but they do seem like a good value for the price. He is also selling 1911 parts and has a good stock of 1911 bits. FWIW many of the lower end US 1911s are assembled using the exact same parts.

Before you comment on the quality, makes sure you drop by and check them out, FWIW STI's are made in the Phillipines. As for customer service, all I Cana is they have been excellent to me.

I was at the shop yesterday and I was told that the stainless Xtreme models have final assembly and QC in Canada while the basic parkerized models are put together in the Philippines. I haven't shot them but I handled a few examples yesterday. I still think they are a good value with a lot of features for their price, every one I tried had a very nice out of the box trigger.

Only one model of STI's firearms are made in the Philippines. See below.

The bottom line STIs are made in the philipines, by Armscor I believe. Everything else I can think of from them is made in the US.
Correct. The Spartans are made by Armscor under contract from STI in an STI inspected and approved area of the factory. Some internals of the Spartans are from STI in Texas. (Hammer, Sear, Disconnector, Safeties) Final QC on Spartans are in Texas by the same gunsmiths that build all the other guns in STI's line and Spartans are offered with the same lifetime warranty as STI's complete line.

Frankly there isn't any comparison between the subject gun and STI.

Would take my STI Spartan V over an over priced Kimber any day. Everything inside is STI unlike cheap crap inside Kimbers. If Xtreme 1911 is anything like the Spartan, I'll be looking into a stainless.
