Here is one from Bad bull muzzleloaders(45cal).Made to shoot smokeless powder using a Rem 700 action. They claim it can toss a 200gr sabot@3100fps.A 300gr jacketed(no sabot)@2900fps and 5600ft/lbs all this and 3'' groups@300yrds.Impressive
I know Savage to makes one to shoot smokeless but not with these numbers.

The Savage is a .50 cal vs the .45 cal listed above. Most Savage shooters use at least a 250 gr. and up for big game and get velocites in the 2300-2400fps in a safe manner.
If Savage made a .45 cal and you shot a 200 gr. bullet Im sure you'd get those velocites.
The action on a Savage 10 MLII is alot heavier then a Model 700 and can take alot of punishment.

Cheers!!

Cheers!!

I agree.....

I like the idea of the Rem 700 but that is a lot of money to spend on something that the Savage is close to doing. A fellow that I know shot his buck this year with his Savage Smokeless at 240 yards with a 300 gr bullet. He has it sighted in at 200. He said it hit exactly where he aimed it. Makes me think where my money will go If I decide on another.

The action on these don't get subjected to any pressure. The breach plug does and it is threaded into the barrel. The action is just there to hold the barrel and the bolt just holds the primer.

You can get one built on a Ruger action from a guy in Manitoba.
