Is that the one that was on the EE forever and a day?
That is the one.
The only flaw that I've found on the entire piece is when the Smith stamped "imp" behind the 375 H & H, he got the letters crooked.
It is flawless other than that; mind you , sadly I won't get to shoot it for a day or two.
But it seems quite unmarked other than the letters being crooked, lol.
Any suggestions as to a good scope for this rifle in this caliber guys? I seem to be in amongst a group of aficionados.
I know a longer eye relief is probably a good plan, the 1/4 rib is a tad forward and close eye relief on bigger rifles makes that tube of 'Crazy glue' pretty handy ( to stop up the cut ).
It won't be a tackdriver and will only likely see larger game at medium distances; perhaps a smaller magnification fixed? Is the recoil going to be abusive enough to destroy scopes?
And OP; again, beg pardon on the highjack.
I tried to mount a Burris 2-7x on the new x74 but it did not have enough eye relief, so I went with a 2-7x VX 2 I had on the shelf, with the supplied rings it worked for eye relief, but barely. It sure would be nice if Ruger moved to mounting points on the rifles back, .5 of an inch would make thing a lot easier.
If I end up scoping the x62 I will go with another VX 2 either 2-7 or most likely a 3-9 I find with these I can get away from needing an offset ring, but barely.
For a .375 W or anything that has severe recoil a good choice is the Leupold fixed 4x [ or 6x] it is one of the most indestructible optic on the market.
Just received my No.1 import from Clay's gang this morning... she is a little beauty... No.1-A in .223, a very rare bird... gonna get her to the range this week. Here is a picture, top gun with a Leupold VX-2 3-9X40mm mounted
Very nice 223
This one has a rim, stock shortened half an inch, and a Leupold 4X aboard.
Nothing finer than a #1 with a 9.3 bore!!
