Hi. I hope you don't mind me adding in my 2 cents. The entire unit is untouched by Bubba. The bayonet is a Mk II made June 1916 for the Ross Mk III service rifle. Somehow it got mixed up with an earlier scabbard. The back of the scabbard should indicate a 1909 manufacture. The markings indicate issue in June 1914 to the 101St Regiment Edmonton Fusiliers (rack No. 451). That scabbard was originally issued to a short Mk II Ross service rifle which took a Mk I bayonet. It is common to have such interchanges. To maintain value do not apply anything to the bayonet or especially to the scabbard. Leave it untouched. John
