Went home last night and there was a huge flock of crows behind my house! Looks like me and the FX3 will be crow hunting this weekend! :D Anyone else do any crow hunting?

Ugh, I would never eat crow. Hunting them is totally different though. Crows are pretty damn smart. Unless ,your picking them off from a distance with a rifle, they can be challenging. They are really annoying around the cottage in the summertime, especially at 5 in the morning. Try hunting them with a shottie, crow call, and an owl hanging from a tree. My grandpa was showing me pictures where they could call in flocks of crows with it, and they would attack the fake owl. Then they could take a shot at them.

how well does a .22 work for crows? are they scared off after a few shots?
I've seen some really aggressive nuisance crows around here, purposely harassing people and diving at their heads.

I have the Bob Aronsohn crow sounds on my Fx3, and they work well

still waiting for them to show up here in more numbers.

Ive been out once, couple weeks ago during a snow storm, and got 4 birds, called in maybe 12 within shooting range :D

They are pretty smart birds. You ever notice how they dont move when you drive by them in a vehicle. but when you get close to them, there gone just like that. Now with that said I wonder what we could put in the back of the pick up while driving by the crows...:D

Sadly, they're out of season here. "Black birds" seem to be most impressive in the fall when they will gather in large groups in a single tree or on hydro wires, I used to wonder as a kid how many of them I could pick off with a .22 without having the whole lot scatter...

Where I live the crows are always here. I live right beside the park and sometimes at night when the sun is just going down the sky is full of them.

I grew up hunting crows with my Dad and my little brother. We used to use an owl decoy up a tree and we had a tape recorder with a loud speaker that we'd hang in the trees and and play a tape of crows fighting an owl. We'd let the first few "scouts" check out the area and then they'd go back and bring in their reinforcements to attack the owl. We used to use 20 guages and .410s as they didn't spook the crows too bad. I haven't done that in about 15 years. It sure was fun though.

Crows are pretty darn smart. I saw a tv show where a flock were taking advantage of a crosswalk to crush seeds and nuts. When the cars stopped, they'd drop the seeds on the road, and then wait for the next time cars stop to go reap the rewards.

Smart eh? Yeah they are but they still haven't figured out how to dodge bullets yet. Last one I killed was with my old 30-30 Winchester. I think it was safe to say it was dead...
