Yellow jacket being made again?

My nylon66 liked them..
Shot a stack of wet phone books and boy do they mushroom well ! Definitely not to use on rabbit or partridge unless its a head shot

Nowadays, its too expensive for a cheepo like me

I'd be interested in trying stingers but I bought a volquartsen carbon fibre for my build and it states specifically not to shoot CCI stingers

Stingers have longer brass than a normal .22 LR.

They don't shoot very well out of any of my rifles either.

The yellow jackets were just more Remington garbage.

I do not think so! I’ve shot well over a case of them and a lot of the viper too. They do gopher head shots at 50 yds. They are destructive on the rodents. Mini mags are a little more accurate but don’t have the same effect. As for dirty, I have done many 1000 + round days shooting gophers without cleaning. They don’t load as well in auto loaders ( point shape ). I’m glad I still have over a case left.

I never owned a .22 (which was a fair number of all kinds and makes) that would shoot Remington Yellow Jackets or CCI Stingers worth a tinkers hoot. On the other hand most of my rifles loved the old CCI Mini Mags and shot them quite well.

I believe yellow jackets were the dirtiest .22 ammo I ever tried. Even worse than the old , stinky , Aguila ammo from about 30 years ago. I'd never buy them again.
I laughed about them "bouncing off a coons skull" though. Your not supposed to hit them , .......with your butt stock ! lololol

I was not even joking about that... and I could tell you some other stories... The "stinky" Aguilas; solid points, were way better "coon candy"; one shot and down they came.

I've shot nearly 30,000 rounds of yellow jackets out a bolt action on gophers for over 30 years. I think they are fantastic out to 80 yards and then then fall off after that. In closer ranges their knock down effectiveness is outstanding.

That's been my experience.

Its funny you mention the stinger with them. Accuracy with my savage Mark 2 was always decent (not great though) with the stinger, but they loved to jam in everything I shot (probably from the longer case). I even had them double feed in a 10/22 and blow up in my face. Yellow jackets also loved to jam up (probably from how dirty they were). Federal blue box for general purpose plinking now and SK Standard Plus for target shooting!
