the yellow tip ammo was designed for machine guns and has a 182 gr bullet...slightly hotter than standard loads and seems to shoot quite well in standard rifles...the guys around here seem to really like it anyways..
The ammo i was getting was made in 1954 and was hotter than the S&B ammo...(across the crony) it shot quite well... my stuff came in plain paper, hand tied with string and in packs of 10 rounds..no stippers and 300 rounds to a tin...
If it's the same as the stuff I have (well mostly had now) its good ammo, teh Brass washed steel cases are much nicer then those crappy lackered steel cases.
Yellow tip means it is a lead cored bullet. Silver means it's steel core.
The heavy ball (180gr) was meant for machine guns and some more modern rifles such as the SVD. The standard ball was made for the regular rifles - your average Mosin Nagant. Apparently, the heavy ball can be hard on rifles not built for it.
