Well, I'm pretty excited about this! I finally got my hands on a S&W 625 Performance Center. The only thing that could possibly make me more excited is if I could convince him to sell me his 610 too. Here's a few pics!

Nice wheelie. I have a Neub question, and please take no offence as none is intended but, the cylinder almost looks dwarfed in that frame (too short) and a barrel insert pushed back to the face of the cylinder leaving an odd air gap under the barrel. Is this frame intended for .44 mag and has a .38 special cylinder? Can it chamber .357 mag?

The cylinder does look a little off in the 625's IMO, but they're designed for the .45 I assure you : )

it's actually a good question! the 25 was originally chambered in 45 long colt or 45 acp, the first chambering obviously needing a longer chamber. in 45 acp it has a LONG cylinder jump before it hits the forcing cone and rifling..this is less then conducive to great accuracy (though you'd be surprised how well they can shoot if you play about with your bullet size and alloy). In the performance center model, they cut the cylinder back to the length they needed for 45 acp only, and extended the barrel rearward into the gap left. net gain, a bit lighter gun, a bit lighter trigger pull (less weight being moved by the trigger), slightly longer barrel for a minor velocity gain, and better accuracy since the bullet engages the rifling before it has a chance to tip/misalign in the chamber. I have a regular one, i'd really like one of the PC ones!

OP, nice revolver...and i hear you about the 610!!

and i hear you about the 610!

Have never seen one, or one for sale. Unobtainium. But would LOVE to have one.

Patiently waiting for pics......

I'd really like to sample a cylinders worth out of that gun

Plinker....there is nothing like shooting a 625...period. IPSC with one is a whole different level of shooting.
