Yes it's a Norinco!

Got some proper sights on. Project complete!

My question to you is... what did it look like right out of the box? Fit, finish, function? I've read that these are pretty rough when you first get them and the SAM 1911's are a little more refined. Not big on the 1911 platform, just wondering.

You can ceracoat a turd but you can't polish it...

Lol, you try if it's old enough :)

Rustspot did that with a file and Dremel (I wish I had the skillz as well). He also did the cerakoting as well. :)

I wouldn't of spent a dime on this if it wasn't a shooter. So I totally get the lipstick on pig thing. All in I'm under $750 with cost of the pistol, parts and labour. It's got all Dlask internals and hammer. So for a price of a Ruger its looks good and shoots amazing. It's got a glass clean 2.5lb trigger.

Don't get me wrong I just bought a STI DVC limited and Costa as sweet as those are its just different build something unique.

Rustpot did that???? I only met him once, semed like a pretty cool guy. It was only recently, but I think I'm going to ask him if he has time to work on mine, amazing! Actually, I'd like to remove that top strip altogether.

Very nice. I've never seen the VZ with that pattern. I've only bought their checkered dd grips, which are also very grippy

may I also ask which sights you used? and did you have to mill the slide? I am assuming that is a norc np29? (i've got one, love it, but it shoots about 4 inches high, thinking of filing the back sight, but would love to put on a fiber optic front and adjustable rear)

beautiful gun! I hope you enjoy it!

Cheers,
F

I bought a Norc in 1911, because I had never had a pistol from that platform. Surprisingly well put together. A buddy said it feels better in his hand than an acquaintance's 2K Kimber, lol.
Good on you, nice piece.

Well done! That is a super nice looking pistol. I put those grips on my SAM 1911 long slide and I love them. I have them on a SIG Sauer Scorpion so I knew how nice they feel.
I've been thinking of a Norc based 460 Rowland. I'd be damned pleased if it looked like yours!!

Front and rear sights are from Dlask. The slide had to be milled to fit the sights.

The grips are Hogue Extremes, cant afford VZs I'm on a budget. :)

Not much for anything but the USGI config Sir, but I will say damn fine job on her. Nice gun.
I have a stock config Norc 1911A1 myself.
Haters say what they will but it shoots FMJ 230gr the same as my friends $2,000 Sig Spartan for accuracy and reliability.
Slide fit to frame is very tight, the trigger is smooth as hell and every single part is made of the hardest fackin' steel I've ever seen on a gun. I stripped it down to bare frame and receiver when I first picked it up and was blown away by the fit and finish for a Norc firearm.
Oh yeah and I paid $260 for it like new in the box! lol
There may be a lot of shoddy Norc products out there, I won't deny that, but the older Norc 1911's sure as hell aren't one of them.
Travis Bickle approved!
