yes or no need adivice soon

If you don't handload and the availability of 30-06 is greater than either 270 or 7mm Rem Mag, buy an '06. I have all 3 chamberings and I can't say any of them are better than the next in the right application. I've shot more moose with a 270 from 80 out to 450 yards (handloads). I now carry a Sako 75 in 7mm RM only because...
Pick one that you can afford and that you will be happy with for awhile. If you're a true GunNut, you'll be trading it off anyway and getting something different!

bmxking...
what the guys are trying to tell you..is... there is not really much diff between the cals. you mention, other than the recoil. The Ruger just may not fit you properly. I once had Win. Ranger in 7Mag....KICKED the krap outta me, yet my 340ROY in a Ruger #1, I could shoot all day. See if you can find someone with a Savage 270. Compare. The 270 will kill ANYTHING the '06, 284, etc. Now if it came in 280Rem...... ;)

Offer still stands....Good Luck!

It's very hard to beat any Savage rifle for out-of-the-box accuracy in any calibre. Especially for the money asked for one. The scope is a low end scope, but it'll do until you can upgrade it. I'm getting the very distinct impression that you're not exactly new to shooting and just haven't had the pleasure of a Savage rifle before. They're well known for extremely good accuracy out of the box. Even with a low end scope.
6.75 pounds is a light rifle for any magnum though. 6.5 pounds is a bit light for a .30-06 too, but a slip-on recoil pad and the coat you'd be wearing will fix that without spending a pile of money. $20 or so for a Pachmayr slip-on pad. If you can try one of the rifles on for size with your hunting coat on, locally, it'd be a good idea.
Most synthetic stocks don't take to being adjusted for LOP well either. They're not always solid.

I have one of those rifles in .30-06. It's a light gun. Make sure you buy a Limbsaver recoild pad for it, even before you shoot it once. The hockey puck that comes on the stock is HARD:redface:

I find that the gun has quite a sharp kick for the caliber compared to others I've shot, and even bigger calibers.

That being said, it shoots awesome, and has taken several deer, 2 moose, and an elk for me.

Ge the package in .270. Upgrade the scope when you can. Savages aren't pretty, but as stated, quite acurate. The .270 will do everything that the 30-06, or 7mm can (maybe not as well, but so close that you couldn't slip and eyelash through the differences).

Good luck and have a great season.

My buddy has this package in 7mm. He has found it to be reliable and accurate for hunting. The 7mm did appear to destroy a lot of meat though.

IF you are considering the "package deal" with that scope DON'T That scope is a really huge piece of ####. I would not trust one on a hunting rifle. EXTREAMLY good chance it will be causing your gun to be shooting all over the place after a few boxes of shells.

You would honestly be better off with a $100 303 British and a $250 bushnell 3200 scope on top.

If you search there are a bunch of threads talking about the savage package rifles. The general consensus is that the rifle is good, and the scope is crap. I have several Savages, and they are all great rifles.

I would skip the package deal and buy a Savage or Stevens in whatever caliber works for you, and put the best scope you can afford on top.

My buddy got a .303 SMLE and after cleaning the barrel up, and scopng the rifle it shoots better than his Browning a-bolt. Not bad considering he had to clean the barrel with steel wool it was so bad.

That doesn't say much for his A bolt.:D

Savages are good bolt rifles, for the price. They have some nice features - such as the ability to chaneg the bolt face so you could change a 30-06 into a 223 for summer plinking or to 338 rem mag.

I don't know how prices compare, but the Remington pump is a first class rifle. Probably more accurate than a Savage out of the box. Mount a 2-7 scope on a 30-06 pump (or a 35 Whelan or a 280 Rem) and you are good to go for anything.

There is a little bit more to it than that I'm afraid.
Action length from 223 to 338 is one, bolt face, mag box, follower, barrel etc.
I agree that the Savage is a versatile rifle system, changing from one bolt face parent to another by switching a few parts is a nice thing to be able to do.

I have that package in 7mm Rem Mag and its shoots real well outta the box. Mine didn't like the Accubonds but loves the Partitions. As for the scope, I've had no issues with it shooting "all over the map" for 2 1/2 years now. I've upgraded it to a Leupold VXII only because it fogs up real easy. I'm probably going to put a Limbsaver on it as well as it can be a bit painfull after a long day at the range.
