First one is a Short Magazine Lee Enfield No 1 Mk III that looks to be sporterized.

Second one was a Lee Enfield Mk I (?) that was scrubbed of markings and made into a sporter or perhaps one of the commercial Lee enfields though that is out of my area of expertise.

I will CONFIRM the first rifle shown as an Short Magazine Lee-Enfield Mark III*, likely of Late World War I manufacture. Itis not slotted for the Magazine Cutoff, so it definitely is a later rifle. It would be very interesting to know precisely WHAT is stamped on the right side of the But Socket, beneath the Bolt Handle. That is where the FACTORY and DATE are marked. I know, it's in the photos, but my rather ancient eyes can't make them out. It has had a LOT of bashing-about but appears to be restorable..... and that is a Good Thing. With some $$$ and some elbow-grease, you can make her back into what once she was: the BEST Combat Rifle ever built.

The SECOND rifle is a more-or-less-neglected EAL rifle, based on the Number 4 Lee-Enfield action. Clean this one up carefully and you have a very real PRIZE. There were not all that many EALs made and even less ever were released. They were special manufacture for the Rangers and looked for all the world like sportered Number 4s..... but were not. They are worth serious bucks.

Gentlemen: your turn.

Very Nice Toys!
