Got an itchy finger and thought a trip up to the Looky range would be a
dang good ideer.
Loaded up and off up the hill I go.
Weather wasn't too promising.
Here's the back of the Looky Zuki...

Some pick up sticks. Couple Marlin 336's.
The one on top arrived on Friday. A 32 WinSpec.
The other below is the little brother, 30-30 Win.
No disappointment on accuracy on either.
Marlin's have won me over to say the least.

The top one is a new to me Tikka M65 in the Swede 6.5x55.
This gal has some serious bragging rights.
No chit, here's a hundred yard target.
The blue cross hair is one inch.
That stray was when a big skeeter crawled inside my hearing protector muff
and bit me ear lobe.
There are five rounds there.
And for gtrussell, that is a Leupold sitting on the Swede.
This target and the combined Tikka and Leupold has sure convinced me that good shooting
can happen with the right combination even though the real optics of the shooter suffers.

This little gal needs a bit more optics than the 4x for my shooting. She sports a Leupold and
nice crisp clear glass as well. There will be more of these fine fine scopes resting on my rifles in the
future as good deals come by.
This is a Chilean Mauser 1895 in 7X57. Nice rifle to shoot. Less recoil than that Marlin 32.
In the near future will be the #### on opening kit added. It's in the mail as I type.

Between the skeeter's and the wind, a big black cloud came along causing some quick ending to shooting and fast clean up.

This photo I took on the way home and this rain storm was where I was shooting.

This portable shooting table worked slicker than chit. No range officer to natter, no farmer to show me his weapon and no fellow
ratt tat tatt beside me. Just need an umbrelller and sum bug juice for the next go around up the hill.
Maybe a fellow shooter to brag up the day would be a welcome, just in case there is some doubt about the Tikka target.

I started with the tri-pod up front with the rear sand bag.
The shorter ranges were down a bit of a slope and I had more
rear adjustment with the sled.
There is another shooting spot slightly farther up the road which I'll try
next time. I was trying to get a few shots off before that thunder cloud
came over. Time was of the essence that day.
I mostly use the sled sighting in. I find the sled uncomfortable when shooting.
Just can't snuggle up to it.
The gun powder feller has one his son/grandson made that I need to copy.
I've watched him shoot with it and it looks too goll dang comfy.
Comfy makes good groups.

Awwwwwww yes, the camo synthetic.
My hate on that T-Bolt trigger.
I can take that gal apart with me eyes closed.
Polishing the trigger. A constant project in motion.
Still not happy with it yet. I didn't show the target as
it wasn't nothing too spectacular.
It will come one day.
Lawyer'in triggers.........

Thanks for posting, Kamlooky. That's a sweet looking Tikka, for sure, especially with the QD rings and iron sights! I'm assuming those are factory flutes on the barrel... it's interesting to see all the different variants that Tikka released and how some of those elements are finding their way back into the Sako generation (e.g., the Sako 85 Black Bear).

What's the barrel length on the Tikka, and how'd the Marlins shoot?

Barrel length on the Tikka is just over 20" with a quick tape measure gander.
The Marlins for what they are shoot just formadubbly.
Not enough optics on them to make a tight group, but bullseye at a hundred yards
no problem. That is their intended purpose. Hundred yards and under with very little
up on the target. They are just fun to shoot.
That Tikka sports a 24 ounce trigger. Just nice, nice, nice.
The Marlin 30-30 is 3 pounds and the 32 is 4 pounds. Need to figure out why the
difference. The 32 is nee 1954 and the 30-30 is 1975 if my memory serves me correct.

I was going to put a rock in it, stand it up and use it to staple the targets to.
I got tired of taking pallets up there to use as the little partying drinking rascals
gather them up and burn them.

Awesome thread Looky !! The little Tikka does shoot... I have a one - hole three shot target somewhere that it made with 140 NPs and H 1000 powder. Hope your buddy gt enjoys the pics of those fine Marlins.. LOL !!

Some good looking rifles and some good shooting with that Tikka! I'm not normally a fan of the full stocks but that Mauser is nice. You're making me think I need a 336. I'm hoping tomorrow I can get out in the morning. It's nice here today but it's been raining so much we need things to dry out a bit. Thanks for posting this thread, it puts a smile on a guys face when he's got the nose in the books.
