Yet another .22 scope thread (sorry!)

I tried to do a search on this (honest), but the number of threads was overwhelming and I could not find what I was looking for. So please bear with me:):

I'm looking for scope suggestions for my un-modded 10/22. Here are my criteria:

-Its a hunting gun intended for rabbits and for taking the heads off grouse. Ranges will be 50 yards and less (mostly 5-25 yards).
-I do not want a big-game scope. I have no interest in shooting at 100 yards. I want the scope to be parallax-free at 50 yards or less.
-I want the magnification to go as low as 1.5X. It can even be a fixed 1.5x scope.
-I want a scope that is fog-proof and moisture-proof, since a lot of my hunting is in the snow.

Please help me narrow my search by suggesting some scope models. Thanks:)

You might want to look at the Weaver Classic V3. It is a 1-3 power. I just put one on my 10/22 yesterday. I went with this scope for exactly the same reasons as you. I wanted something I could find a running rabbit in fast. At 1 power you don't even know you have passed the scope in front of your eye (except for the cross hairs).

I like the Weaver Classic Rimfire Line too. I have a straight 4X on my 10/22 and it works fine for what I use it for. They also offer a 2 X 7, which would be close to what you are looking for. These Weavers are nice scopes designed specifically for rimfire ranges.

I also have one of the 2 X 7's on my 77/22. I can vouch for this scope as well.

I put an old Redfield 2.5X on a semi .22 and used it for close range rabbits and grouse. It would also make gophers nervous at 75 yards.

I bought it at a gunshow for $65.

If you want variable go Weaver rimfire. I have a 4X Weaver that I really like.

I have a Bushnell Trophy red dot on mine. No good out past 75 yards because of the 5 MOA dot. But really fast on target. Zero magnification too.

I like it alot.

Thanks for the input guys. OK, next question:

The scopes I've been looking at have 1" tubes and 32mm obj. lens. When I buy rings, do I get LOW, MED. or HIGH? I was thinking MED.

Normally I would think that the medium rings would be perfect, but the 10/22 does have that add-on Weaver base that adds some extra height to the whole setup. I have a Leapers 3-9x32mm AO on mine, and I have the medium rings. There's almost too much clearance with the barrel, and I was tempted to try the low rings.

Just for your reference...my fairly stock Ruger 10/22RR with a Leapers 3-9x32mm AO scope and Leapers medium profile one piece base.

Low will probably work best with the combo you mention. It really depends on which brand you choose, but I think just about any manufacturer's low rings would work with a 32mm scope. Like Allstone said, a lot of medium rings are almost too high for a lot of scopes.
