So...what's with the big surge of interest in the .375's of late? Have we begun to import large African beasties to Canada somewhere? With the announcement of the .375 Ruger, I've suddenly felt the lightheaded dizziness that tells me it's futile to resist the urge to buy a .375 any longer. It's all your fault, my fellow gunnutz :p :D So who else is jumping on the bandwagon to buy a .375 of one configuration or another in 2007?

I've wanted another 375 Since I sold mine, over a year

I was toying wiht the 375-338 Taylor, the 375 Weatherby or 375 AI...or maybe just the good ol 375 H&H- except I wanted cases to last a bit longer, and the Weatherby, AI and Taylor where just enough different that I woudl think they were cool:cool:

Then I started hearing abotu the 375 Ruger, and since I'm not in a super hurry, I thought I would just let that mdl 70 action that I had earmarked for a 375 project sit a little longer in the safe...;)

Stil undecided as of yet, I'd liek to see the Ruger offereing before makign any firm decisions, but I do liek what I see of it, so far.:dancingbanana:

On my second 375H&H now(first was a CZ550 and now a newly aquired Weatherby mark V), don't pretend to have a bunch of knowledge or experience with the old bugger, but it's a classic. I can't wait to nock over a few big gamers with it this fall.

I just had to have the big dog on Remington's porch...that being the 375 RUM. She wears a real nice custom HS Precision stock with a sims limbsaver pad and mercury recoil reducer. On top she has a set of Burris Signature dual dovetails that have a firm grasp on a Leupold VXII 3-9x40 offering plenty of eye releif. She steps out doing 3000 FPS on a 260 grain Nosler Accubond and prints 1/2 MOA with no difficulty at all. I could probably get the load faster but I want accuracy and I figure if what ever I shoot at 3000 FPS don't die and fast...well another 100 fps won't help. I never feel under gunned with the 375 RUM in hand.

I'm new to the .375 H&H, having got a Brno off of another forum member. I just had my Brno 602 out at the range to see what the fuss was all about. Shooting 235 grain Speers wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, being noticeably less "snappy" than my .338 Win Mag with either 225's or 250's (that might be due, in part, to the Limbsaver recoil pad and the rifle's heavier weight).

All in all, I went through 20 rounds off the bench, and was very pleased to see that it shot very well at 100 and 200 yards. Time to do a little experimenting with some heavier bullets. I'm sure that the recoil will increase, but I've been kicked pretty hard by 45-70's in light rifles, so I think things will stay pretty good.

It's a really interesting (big) cartridge, and there's something inherently cool about throwing a big, long, bullet down range accurately.

I'd say, if you're interested in seeing what the .375 is all about, "come on down, the water's fine!":)

Just brought mine home tonight after the chop job

I will take some better pics when the light is on my side :bangHead:

I like this cartridge more every time I shoot it--don't think you'll be disappointed :p

I've only got one (in a Win 70 Safari), but keep working up new loads 'cause it's so fun. It's a very forgiving chambering, in my limited experience. No trouble finding accuracy loads for 225, 260, 270, and 300 grain bullets, all at expected velocities.

Recoil's really no big deal. Compared to the TRULY nasty chamberings--.416 anything, .458 win mag, .404, .505, 3.5" 12 gauge slugs--it's a pussycat. You can shoot 50 off the bench and go eat a big breakfast, fold some laundry, no sweat.

Plus every shot makes dirt explode out of the berm like somebody set off a f'ing bomb
