Yet another .375 thread

I'm not trying to start a flame war here, just relaying information. Ive heard, from a few people that the 375 H&H is an inherently innacurate cartridge. Seeing as I have no knowledge or expirience with the H&H, I was wondering if those who reload and shoot the 375's regularily could shed some light on the subject for me.

That was a remmy 700 , its got a 6x leupold on it now, and will take the ###xx off a flee at 100 meters.
Yeah, buddy was smoking le craque--it's got a great (and deserved) reputation for accuracy and even cooler as Levi points out, shooting to the same POI with different loads.
O'Connor is generally associated with the .270 Win, but in his The Rifle Book he devotes only a short section to the .270/.280 Rem/.284 Win 'class' of catridges (about the .270 he says there is 'no special magic' to the case or bore size), but the .375 gets a whole chapter to itself, and lavish praise.
The .338 is probably a better choice for almost any situation. It shoots flatter than the .375 and hits _almost_ as hard. I prefer just having one of each

I'd say that those people are idiots.
I'd also say that accuracy has more to do with the rifle than the cartridge, anyway.

I had a Super Express CRF in '97 and used it for a couple years. I loved it but a shoulder injury from dirt biking didn't lend to me carrying it all day without fatigue.
The new Ruger is a neat idea. Not a fan of the rifle but a cartridge with that kind of power in a non belted case that fits a standard length mag is just plain smart IMO.
Eventually my 37-303 hybrid will get done so I can lay the smack down on a nice Bruin.
Until then I will have to resort my little 9,3. I hope it can keep up!

Some felt that those shooting hard recioling rifles would be inefective on game since the guns nasty bump would keep them from practice. Personaly I have found that shooting a kicker can improve your concentration on holding on to your rifle and therefore improve your technique with all the rifles you shoot.I took mine and stuck a cheapo scope on it then sighted it in with what 235 Speer bullets I had left and took it out for a chuck shoot. DISCLAIMER HERE GUYS!! 87.5 gr IMR 4350 can push those bullet up to the 3000 fps magical varmint rifle velocity. I had 14 rounds left after sight in and each of those killed one groundhog. None needed a second finisher shot
All shots were taken from a kneeling or offhand position and several were offhand at 100yrds. Try that with any rifle!!. Longest shot was likely only 200 but still ifn ya can wack a hawg at that range grizz is in a heap a trouble. If you have never seen a heavy August woodchuck fly staight in the air close to ten feet doing the helicopter with severl feet of inards as wings than you just havn't seen Extreme Varmint shooting The .375 is an all time classic that will never fall to the wayside regardless of what ever new chamberings come along. The Grand Old Mother and I love her. Mine is a Sako and it is a pleasure to shoot and as acurate as anything I own apart from some of my heavy varmint stuff. My load of 285 G/S over 83.5 4350 will bout give me a nosebleed but she'll stuff them in under and inch at right around 4900flbs at 2700+fps. About al a feller needs eh!
Oh yeh! That .338 is better bunch gives me that same "wana swat the fly" feeling as those guys that used to ride up beside me on my Harley with thier Hona or what ever and want to tag along for a few miles

I think its great, makes me more confident in my loads. I did go as high as 77 gr of Reloader 15 with 260 noslers, in a light sako(it went away, light guns and 375 don't mix), near kicked the face off me reduced to 71gr

Okay grnhawg.....we's goin' hawg huntin with the 375's this summer!!! I'm can't wait to see the 375RUM disassemble a dirt pig and compare to the 375 H&H....the friggin' locals will think the next big war has started if we pound away with the big sticks all day. I'm stuck with a cal restriction in KW but will have to travel to touch off the bigger than .277's. That only leaves me with 220 swift, 243 win, 2x 260 rem and 270 win. I guess I need more guns!

grnhawg, that 285 GS load is one half grain short of what I used in my Win 70 too. Caught the thumb in my beak and swore it was going to bleed! LOL
I imagine I would have liked shooting it more had I not loaded it to the nine's all the time. Few guy's I shot with asked to try it after they saw me touch one off.
My Cow Elk was very impressed by the load, as was the forkhorn whitetail!
