I picked this one up a couple of years ago and it has taken quite awhile to gather the correct parts and put this one back to original configuration.

It is a somewhat rare (although there have been several on the EE lately) Israeli K98k still in the original 7.92x57 chambering. You can see the Israeli proofs and acceptance marks on the reciever but no large 7.62 stamping. The stock has a Hebrew marking similar to an "n" to denote the 7.92 caliber.

The stock was the hardest part to find, with new never issued IDF buttplate, handguard, bands, and sight hood rounding off the restoration.

Nick at Vulcan Refinishing did the parkerizing job.

Also note the notches in the bolt handle. These had been parkerized by the Israeli's so I assume they may be from WWII? Kind of interesting.

The bolt has nazi WWII proof and waffenamts on it, so definitely a K98k bolt. The notches look kind of crudely cut. Maybe a file or hack saw? I would say they were done by bubba at some point in its sporting conversion, but they were parkerized over with the green tinted park the Israeli's used so they had to have been there before.

Well done once again, you do great work piecing these back together. They turn out very nice. The parkerizing looks great, why did you decide to refinish this one?

The original barrel had been cut down so I had to have it replaced. It would have been almost impossible to find a parkerized 8mm barrel, so I just had the whole thing reparked and that way everything matched finish wise.

Usually when I do a restore, I try to preserve as much of the original finish and try to replace parts with a similar patina/wear to them. This wasn't really possible with this project. Plus I was able to buy new unissued parts to replace the missing ones and they match the park job Nick did very well.
