Not entirely sure what I have here, maybe someone else recognizes it?

Seems to be a Mauser-type action, BNP proof marked. Trigger group has “Parker Hale 98/148” on it. No other markings besides a “6.5x55 Cal. on the barrel). Based on that, BSA commercial rifle? CF-2? I’m not well versed on that line of rifles.

I was going to build something out of it assuming it was an M98 design, but now I’m not too sure how close it is to a 98. Don’t really want to have a rifle build with scarce parts, if that makes sense.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out with this, cheers.

Tis a Parker Hale of England of sorts.
Says so right in front of the trigger group where the bolt handle has a bend in it.
Mauser action....
I am only confirming your post as this is what I would assume.
The ability to cross reference parts for a custom build is not my area of expertise.

Rob

might have been a better place to post this would be the Gunsmith sub forum.

You are on the right track with Parker-Hale, they made lots of hunting rifles out of surplus K98 Mausers after the war and when they ran out continued with commercial Mauser actions. (BSA's CF2 is a very not Mauser98-like action.)

Maybe you guys can see a difference here.... shrouds look identical to me, receivers are definitely different in mill quality and forge markings, no SPAIN scrub/spanish bomb forge mark on the one..
