These guys were recommended to me from the sales team at Bass Pro. I will be taking the PAL/RPAL course and thought I would ask if anyone has experience with them.

Very little came up in the search outside of a couple thumbs up.

Thanks!

I did my PAL there. The course was good. Taught you everything you need to know and the guys are friendly even if you don't have a lot of experience. They also come early in the morning if you need to practice before challenging the exam.

The recommendation came from Bass Pro because one of their instructors works there - very knowledgable guy.

Richard and Mike are both great guys and do a really good job. When I moved to Ontario, I took my hunter course from them.

You couldn't ask for more thorough instructors IMHO.

I also did my Pal/Rpal at York. Good guys. If your firearm handling experience is limited they allow lots of extra practice time. Would recommend.

Not an instructor, an examiner.

I never got the chance to meet Richard. He was on vacation at the time. His daughter Janice, Mike and Louis were there.

When I took my course he was there during class time teaching. He was also there during the test writing period as well.

This is back when they used the basement of Sunset Diner on Woodbine as their classroom - not sure if they're still using that.

Regardless, it's a top notch instruction outfit and I'll assume that because they're so good, they are very busy. I have a friend that I convinced to sign up for his PAL and is taking it through them, but hasn't heard back from them yet in regards to the October courses.

No. They've got a classroom setting over a drugstore on Dunlop rd in the Yonge and Major Mackenzie area of Richmond Hill.

i liked them when i challenged the exam, accept they failed my buddy with a 78% on the non-restricted practical test. i think it was kinda ####ty of the lady who was doing the test, but ohwell.

Well, if he did enough wrong to fail......

It's because of shady instructors we in Ontario have to send our test results to the CFO so they can make sure they were administered by proper instructors, then the CFO stamps them and sends them back to us.

That adds anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks, and in some cases MONTHS wait time to send the application to the CFC.

Thanks for the info guys. I thought Bass Pro taught the course too which is why I approached them. Both dudes in the gun department at the time recommended York.

Based on the responses, it's all good and I will probably confirm today.

Did my course there, like everyone else's comment, good instructors/examiners, very friendly. You can practice the hands on stuff as many times as you want to prep yourself for the exam. Feel free to ask any question you don't understand with the rules and they answer it professionally.

I tell my students that the examiners don't pass or fail them - they do that themselves - the examiners only keep score.
