You and a Man Eating Tiger - What Rifle?

That footage was amazing. I thought they were all gonna shoot each other. After the first three or four shots I started rootin for the lion. As for my choice, 470 nitro express by Purdey or krieghoff purhaps then at least if the kitty got the better of me I would die with one of these works of art in my hands.

The only thing about being run down and devoured with a Purdey or Kreighoff 470 NE in your hands is that it makes you look REALLY stupid.
Oh, you blew all that money on a rifle quite capable of the job but never bothered to learn how to shoot the damn thing!

I figure if you chose to travel to India and be crammed into a country with a billion plus people, a charging tiger might be a welcomed sight. I'd probably just stand there.

a real tiger? like the scary stalking kind that you wont see until its already airborne with its jaws open going for your neck? umm...

one of these:

at least id take it with me, and not end up in tiger poo.

Kombi, Do you have some sort of complex or something? You're post did make one of us look REALLY stupid.
No complex.
I can just see that sort of thing making it into the Darwin Awards, if you know what I mean.
If I ever went head to head with a tiger toting a 470 NE double worth that much I'd be making sure I walked away from it and the tiger didn't.
There's a saying in the supercar world that people's driving capabilities don't necessarily rise with the size of their chequebooks. :(
Let's just say I never want to be that sort of shooter.
And now I'm preparing myself for a comment along the lines of "Don't worry; your shooting is like your current chequebook.....second rate". :D
Or can you do better? ;)

The MIGHTY 375 Ruger Alaskan woudl be an excellent choice.

OK OK I'll bite...

You mean the new King of the 375's... :D

I have to agreee in almost every aspect this rifle/cartridge combo would get the job done better than most other rifle/cartridge combo's...

I would want a claw extractor bolt action in a 458 Win Mag for this scenario though...

Big cats are the worlds most efficient killers, and the tigers are the biggest. Cats also have a highly attuned nervous system that makes them more susceptable to the shock from a high velocity bullet than other animals of similar weight. Fast bullets tend to fail in thick cover, and unfortuneatly that's where the tiger will probably be found.

I think I'd go with my .375 Ultra and plan on using a hot loaded Nosler 260 gr AB's if an open shot was possible, but for hunting in the thick stuff I'd fall back on the 380 gr. Rhino.
