I recently picked up a real nice Husky M46. (9.3x57)
For some reason, it occurred to me to try stripper clips with it, so I sourced some nice brass ones from a good guy in the EE and tried them today.
No scope on the rifle naturally, so the guide lips are unmodified. After 50 years of shooting you'd think I would have tried this before, but anyhow, I have now.
Man, are they slick. Five rounds into the magazine just as fast as if you were using external mags on a rifle so equipped.
Really amazed me. If you have a Mauser of some sort or similarly designed rifle and non-scoped, try it. You might like it.
Plus, now I get to make a bandoleer and pouches from leather and I'll be able to strut around like Pancho Villa and impress the senoritas with my machismo.
