Now I know there's simply NO way the folks making the rules in Canadaland are gonna let you have this pistol, but you can dream! :D

Walther P99c/AS

Sweetest little compact 9 I've ever run across.

I DO think however that you guys can have the full sized version, yes?

Getcha' one.

Where's the damn drool icon at again...As well as the "you need a kick in the butt for posting that" and the envy icon....Nice pistol, very nice, and yes we can get the bigger brother.

9mikemike:

I like the compact Walther 99c/AS so much I will more than likely wind up buying a full sized P99/AS when I can scrape up the money..

I love all things Walther. I had a PP years ago and in a moment of stupidy sold it.. I have a surplus P1 which is like new, and it is a very nice old Walther. Recently I bought a surplus (SOG) P5, and it too is a top quality pistol. I think Walthers are addictive..:D

Seriously, I did quite a bit of researching before I bought my Walther P99c/AC, and 99% of posts on the internet concerning the Walther P99 series of pistols are positive.

If you ever get the full size 9mm fever, consider the P99's... You'll be glad you did.

i had 2 P99 fullsize and i ddint really like it. I hated the trigger and the mag release. I would prefer a compact glock.

Musky Hunter:

Did you have the P99/AS? I read where most folks seem very happy with the traditional DA/SA trigger action of the AS, while those with the "politically correct" DAO, and whatever that other type is called aren't so happy.

As to the mag release, I'm a lefty, and the ambi mag release is one of the aspects of the P99c/AC I prefer. They work great for me, but I can see where that might be a subjective thing.

In years past I had a Glock 26 (two actually), but the ergonomics simply weren't good for my small hands. The G26 felt like a brick to me. The P99c/AS came with large and small (the full sized I think offers L,M,S) grip options, and I replaced the ones that came on it (large), with the small size and the pistol fits my hand, and that of my wife, perfectly.

The main thing I didn't like about the Glocks in general was the "always light" trigger action.. I think leo's and such, if trained properly, are well served by the Glocks, but the average person is not. Too much chance for AD's IMO..

The P99c/AD offers a first round DA, SA, or long trigger pull SA.. I think a DA first round is probably the way to go for non-professional shooters. (For self defense).

I'm a big fan of 9mm pistols, especially compacts. I have a Sig P239/Star BM/S&W 3913/Bersa Thunder 9/UC/Walther P1/Walther P5/KelTec P11 and in some ways they are all excellent pistols. I've just been pleasantly surprised at the overall package offered in the Walther P99c/AC.

But, choices make the world go round, and what works for me might not necessarily work for you.. No problem. :D

Thanks for your reply.

I dunno, I always sort of thought the P99 was a hunk of ####... does it being a compact now make it less a hunk of ####? lol

its overpriced. Has bad rep for longevity. Is not the best for reliability. Its controls arent very ergonomic. Try one out and see for yourself. Compared to the other current German offerings its not rated to high... Ever seen the SW version of it?

Why? Is it the way that it looks or the mechanics?

Just a suggestion,

Do your own research online regarding quality and reputation of the Walther P99 series of pistols. You might decide Mr. Personality is leading you astray..

What distance was your target shot at? :p

NAA:

I picked up the pistol yesterday.. The target pictured represents the results of the first mag fired yesterday afternoon. I was actually shooting just to get an idea of what windage/elevation adjustments might be necessary for it to impact poa, but I was pleasantly surprised it needed no adjustment for my needs.

The target was shot from a distance of 5' (five yards), standing, two handed.

The reason I shoot at that distance is because 5-7' is considered self defense range in my part of the U.S. Statistics show that the great majority of lethal confrontations in fact occur between 0-7', and actually only involve 3 rounds or less.

I've always been told you should practice at the distance you expect to have to fire the weapon. I'm too old for target shooting.

You can certainly check those figures if you like, I've just read that in various places, and I could be mistaken.. For me personally it makes sense since I can't see beyond that distance with any accuracy anyway.

I'm a senior citizen, with declining vision and shaky hands. I make no claim to be anything other than an average shot.. Maybe less?

I'm sure Mr. Personality will be around shortly with his words of wisdom, and that's certainly his right. Perhaps he'll share his four letter word intellect with us again.

I believe that's correct. I think the stats come from the FBI studies from the late 80's or early 90's. They came up with the 7 foot or less range as the range for most "gunfights". I believe at the same time their studies initiated some debate over the .357 magnum as the best "one shot stopper" round.

I hope you enjoy the gun. It really is quite a nice looking piece.

Hey Dicklips, whats your problem? Your posting stuff on guns most here cant buy. You wont even take any criticism on what is widely regarded as a substandard product that is overpriced. And lastly.... you post a pic of a target that you shot to show accuracy..yet you are almost touching it?

You having a sensitive day? Or just forget to change your depends?

oh and for your little peanut gallery...Hey Deckard... you really that bored tonight?

One persons junk (or hunk) is another person's treasure. I own the P99 in .40 and I LOVE it!
