Kel-tec, Kel-tec where have I heard that name before? Oh now I remember.....RUN:eek:....RUN REAL FAST:eek:...:onCrack::slap:

That's what I was originally thinking. But..... the design is slick and they've spent two years on it, rather than releasing it and using us as the beta testers. I'm willing to chance it with this one.

From the diagram and the reading I've done on this rifle everything is off the barrel. The barrel acts as a "spine". I'm interested to see what the accuracy is. One post said 3/4 moa for the target model. I'm hoping it's accurate since I like the design and idea.

Mounting the optics off the barrel doesn't bother me, mounting your "RAS" on the barrel seems unnessary.

The release of the RFB Carbine is being delayed 30 to 60 days. Expect the first shipment by February of 2009.

The delay is due to a re-tooling effort aimed at adjusting production in order to precede any future negative legislative actions that are likely imminent due to the incoming administration.

And even then, these will probably fly off the shelves down south. Who knows when we'll get them, if any.

If the import/export certificates go through, we'll get them the same time as the US ;). Check out Walt (Arms East) previous posts.

Found this from Shotshow 2009

Hey, the RFB braids facial hair as well...:D

Just kidding, was hoping we could get more info, but I know that the import process can be long and involved. That should be a great dear/moose gun.

...licenses still in the works, hearing bad things about the USA and .308 in general, hopefully this will change, State Dept position as told (second hand) to me would seem to be untenable in the long term. It seems the .308Win chamber HAS been added to the 'military calibres' list.

but, not looking good in the short term I'm afraid.

I have all kinds of other good news about new rifles and pistols AEI is bringing to Canada for 2009, which will wait until shipments are confirmed, but the RFB, and any other American .308Win, is not looking like it will be on the good news list at the moment.

Also, I offer my regrets at doubting an earlier post suggesting that the .308 has now been grouped as the 7.62x51 for export purposes.

Seeking clarification, I'm hearing a couple of scenarios, one which means no-go, the other means, maybe, but with a more expensive and pain in the ass process. The PITA scenario I can handle.

More info when I have it. Promise.

Blarg.

You would figure they would loosen up export regulations to help stimulate the economy, but nooooo..

Thanks for the update, DangerTree.

Hoping for the best.

Holy! So worst case scenario means no more .308 Winchester from American Manufacturers?

Ammunition prhibited for Export (from the USA):
.50BMG, 7.62x39 and now possibly .308Winchester ???

So no more 308 hunting rifles? that is just retarded.

F*ck 'em! The world does not need America to survive. There are lots of countries making lots of guns and lots of bullets without the help of America. For all their posturing on freedom/democracy/global economy they sure have a funny way of practicing it. Norinco may very well be a good friend in the future.

They don't want us to buy from china, but they force us to?

And look at the M14s situation. The longer they work at making something, the better they get. It's not going to be too long and the .308 of preference just might say "Made in China" on the box.

Well if what they say on the news about how they deal with bad quality control and corruption is true... Likely will be some pretty good stuff coming in for a while.
