My son and I hunt together when possible. While he is away at college, I keep him up to date with the trailcam pics so he can look forward to coming home and hitting the woods.
This year, we received a significant snowfall during peak rut. A nice young 8pt with a broke tine showed up...
.
The young buck had been chasing does for several weeks after. To clarify... I mean... the buck in the our woodlot... (although the young buck may also be chasing a few does at college)
Last week, my son being home for Christmas, he was able to spend a few afternoons in the stand with the bow. And in strolled the same 8pt broke tine that I had sent him pics of... Thwack!!
Wonderful when it all comes together. We tracked him together and had a nice celebration when we recovered him. Went about 260yds with a blown out lung.
I have downed my share of deer, but this one really was much more special. My son's first buck, and we were able to share the moment together. Priceless.
