I didn't have to work until 7pm yesterday evening so I went out to the back of my property accompanied by the son of a couple of close neighborhood friends.
He is just old enough now to carry his own gun and pretty damn proud of it!

Not a gobble at all until about 7am, then two dumb young jakes gobbled and then stumbled across a plowed field onto my property and the young man dumped the dominant of the two and I picked up his goofy companion.

His bird weighed 14-6 and mine was 12-8

As you can see, although it wasnt a long beard, this kid is on cloud nine!

Hopefully my wife and I can connect(With The Turkeys:) ) on Friday morning if the weather is half decent enough.

Nice birds and good for him!!! He looks really proud and I remember the feeling all too well! The pride you feel when you first get into hunting and shoot your first (insert animal) is something I would never trade for anything in the world. Good to see young guys are still getting into hunting! I'm having a daughter in 2 months and I'm counting down the days when I can introduce her to it!!!

no matter what cadooo,s on a great job:D

Actually this kid showed me afew tricks on cleaning up the birds as his parents/grandparents operate a butchering /meat shop.

The beard on mine was about 3 1/2" and his was about 3". The spurs were almost non-existant(little nubs)
