Your 3 gun battery-what is it?

Do SKS's also count? :)

My non-refurbished early 2008 IZH import. She's a straight shooter...

I only mentioned calibre before, but along with my CZ-452, and Rem 870, my SKS is one of my 3. Paired with Hornady SST ammo, it'll feed the family, and keep the coyotes away...

For 3 firearms total it would be:

1) My Marlin Golden 39A .22 rimfire
2) My Browning BPS 12 Gauge
3) My BSA 338-06

For 3 centrefire rifles:

1) My Ruger 77RSI in 250-3000
2) My Browning M1885 in .270 Winchester
3) My BSA in 338-06

So... as a general rule; "If the deer is smaller than the SKS, you are good to go..."

Nice set-up. Did you buy it like that, or did you do it yourself? I want a nice refurb shooter with the exact same set-up.

My setup. MagWedge quick rail. The scope is a Vomz Pilad (Russian made, really good quality for the $$) 1.2-6x - a nice magnification range for hunting. I leave it dialed down to 1.2 when walking around, so it works as an (almost) unlimited eye relief reflex scope, that I can dial for shot placement out to the effective range of the rifle (within 150yards for hunting, maybe 200 on the extreme).

Yes, I am aware that isn't exactly a "trophy" kill, but it was my one chance to break away to go hunting last fall, and it was the second last night we were going to be out. I wasn't going to not fill the freezer. I'd taken a pass on other doe's earlier in the week, but there comes a point where you just take the shot.

FWIW (and there was another CGN'er who can attest to it), it dropped like someone dropped a piano on it. No need to track, it fell into its own shadow.

Wasn't dissing your doe... I'm all for plunking meat deer... I popped a meat doe this fall with my No.1... I was purely making an "SKS funny" for those that enjoy such things... peace and good eatin'...

Didn't take it too hard. Usually when you cut a jab, it's a shoulder shot between friends, not a kidney shot in the rugby scrum against your arch rivals.

To be honest, until I did it this fall, I wasn't 100% convinced of "SKS for deer" but with the right ammo, it can really do the job.
